I don't know what the applications of such coils could be, but I think I know a relatively easy way to wind them, though it would take some tweaking.
a toroidal coil winder with two tubes, one slightly larger than the other. the inside tube (core) would move through the winder and the outside tube, which would be stationary. the outside tube would be bisected by a sinusoidal sine, which the wire would weave through, and supported on either end. the inner winding (core) tube would have to be covered with 2sided tape or something fancier the outer tube could be rotated at varying angles for additional layers to experiment with patterns.

I don't know if that makes sense, but its worth a try.

      Hello Uncle Charlie

I have multiple spools of enameled magnet wire of various guages but I almost always end up needing more wire than I have on any one spool when winding coils for various experiments. I hate to have to go buy a whole spool just to wind one coil so i was wondering what the preferred method of splicing additional wire onto a coil was and what the best way was to insulate the splice.

The way I see it is I can solder the new wire to the original by overlapping it by .080" to .100" in a side by side splice or i could butt the two ends together and solder along the sides of the splice.

Of course the wires could also be twisted together and soldered but that gets bulky and ends up looking like a bull's arse sewn up with a grape vine, not to mention the mess it would undoubtedly make with the magnetic field.

Any ideas or should I just keep my coils all one length of wire? I thought this might be as good a place as any to ask this question. I usually find what I'm hunting by reading and searching the threads and therefore i don't post very much so please pardon my ignorance on such a basic topic/question and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

PS. I really enjoy your vids, UFOpolitics.

      Hello Uncle Charlie,

On Your question/concern I will give you my opinion...

I don't like to splice coils...in either way.
And it is not about the bulky, the looks, or the contacts to be right...it is about the electronic flow within the conductor internal paths...to me is impossible to do it without affecting the whole electromagnetic patterns/flux/results.

Again, that is my point of view...and my humble opinion.

I am glad you have enjoyed mi videos!!...

      Kind regards

That is more or less what I thought. I just hate to waste anything but on the other hand, I always seem to find a use for left over materials. Thanks.

I've been thinking about a coil I will build for a few months now. I haven't come across one like it and would like to see if anyone has tried this already.

I was thinking that this may amplify the magnetic field. Winding it will be very difficult.

          Thanks.

            Hello Ruphus,

I never saw that style before on your pic, do wind all the cones, the ones being in between the top and bottom ones, or just the top and bottom ones?

The winding would be continuous so they all energize simultaneously.
