    The point...

Creation or destruction of energy is pretty much irrelevant. As we as a species are too dimwitted to distinguish reliably between destruction or dissipation, created vs assimilated or even intrinsic vs. non-existent. All the while developing little cults, yelling and beating clubs on the ground decrying each others paradigm of fire.

Getting more out of a system than you put in to it is not a miracle! it means the energy came from somewhere other than your input. The trick is to find and recognize where it comes from. This holds true in all cases: real or fake, assimilated dipole or hidden battery and yes even aluminium foil kite with a tail of diodes or a waterwheel.

I like all the analogies. I look at energy as that which is coming from a sun, suns are created, somehow, by some thing, somewhere. We can even see them being created in some parts of the galaxy. They also have a limited lifespan and can and do die, sometimes violently. Their death creates new suns which spawn new planets. Everything in the visible universe has a lifespan, both life and death seem to be part of it lifecycle. Gravity and energy must also follow whatever rules is governing the universe. Alpha and Omega is what most call it. There may be many levels of consciousness that we have yet to attain. When and if we ever obtain that level of consciousness, we may be able to grasp the entirety of the universe, its laws, its life and death struggles, and creation and destruction. Until then, we all have our theories and conjectures of how it all works. Each one may be as valid as any other. P.S. If Tesla was right, then kinetic is stored energy, energy created from work. I feel that all matter is stored energy, condensed into a materialistic form. Somehow atoms got locked together to form matter. If we can find the key to that lock, we can open up endless possibilities. Good Luck. stealth

But really does it matter where It comes from in first place.
It's here; this Planet (including us) made of it, and the only difference from other material world we have nonmaterial things: Soul and Сonsciousness; that's where the Mystery starts - we have it but can't touch it .

There are many things we do not comprehend so far, we're different civilization, some been before us with different mentality and using completely different approach to planetary energy sources (gravity, magnetism, electrostatic); we what we are, we will know more for sure when "tongues will be stilled and knowledge pass away".

Should we try? Of course, that's why we have Mind...(not to be deceived by others ).
        Merry Christmas!

          Energy...

First to say hello to all, and great Thread!...if we could get to fully understand Energy...then all the rest will be easier to "digest"

My Concept of Energy, and first I will keep it as Generally Conceptual as possible, in order it could be applied to every case for comparison.

Energy have -at least- two "States"...Active and Passive.

And I do not think Energy is Work...or Work Done at all.

Work is a Resultant from Active Energy

To me Active Energy is a Flow, a Stream, a transfer from a high end point to a low end terminal, from Supply to Demand...from Source to Drain...from Positive to Negative, from High Pressure to Low Pressure, from Higher Temp to lower or viceversa .

For example...We are extremely Thirsty...we have been running all day...and we need Water...we feel weak (no energy)...we do not think we "can make it"...then we finally find a nice glass of water...and just a few drinks start a restoration process in our bodies...we start to feel better...why?...Basically we have lost a lot of minerals, calories, during our exercising ,rounded off as "Energy"...by sweating and fast breathing, running...so water start a process to fill our body with the right temperature to cool off...giving us the necessary electrolytes and other lost components...we feel much better, we can make it now...or finish that "work". Maybe not for as long as drinking the specific Thirst Quencher...with the required percentage of Salts and Minerals lost, but it will do.

Resuming, Energy was "stored" in that water...or passive state, as the components we need...then we drank it starting a "Flow" from supply to Demand...

Same thing, a bit more complicated with Food and eating-digesting process...all relating to energy.

A Battery has "Passive" Energy stored within, there are a few chain of cells stacked in series that whenever we close that loop for a load (Active Energy), or even open wires connected to a massive harness...this cells "activate" and start a process of a flow. This process is all about a demand and a supply...it just have to be triggered or activated.

A Flowing River has Energy within, in form of a stream force that could be useful and transformed properly...same as a Waterfall.

Wind has Energy...Oceans, the Clouds have Energy flowing...charged...this Planet is full of all kind of Energies.

          Regards
