  • Hi Bob that swbifi is an interesting coil. I made four of them out of speaker wire. Two primaries and two secondarys. They are wired per bro mikeys drawing so that there are two oppositely wound spools. The primary is wound on top of the secondary . They are cylindrical coils. They are two separate spools except for the core which is small welding wires. When I pulse the primary coils with 24VDC using a homemade square wave generator driving an MJL21194 npn, the output blew out a 40w incandscent bulb. So I tried a 60w incandescent bulb and it blew that out. So I wired two 60w incandescent bulbs in series and it still blew out one of the bulbs and then the MJ21194 shorted. I will rewire the primarys and put a fuse in it this time. It seems unusually efficient. But I havent been able to keep it running long enough to take any measurements. When I get this running then I will try the two SWBIFI pancakes.
