Looking at the pdf, the brushes would be 90deg apart?, i dont have a my1016, most small motors ive disassembled have the two brushes set 180deg.
That will mean transposing the commutator connections..which im trying.
Thanks for the effort dave & matt
    cheers

    • Brushes

Two sets of brushes. Each pair is 180 degrees apart

I don't have any of the my1016's, when you say 2 sets of brushes, do you mean 2 commutators or is it 4 brushes on 1 commutator. I have been using 24 volt wheelchair motors and some of them have 2 brushes and some have 4 but they are all on 1 commutator.

Should I get 2 motors and use the second one to wind as a generator?

Just thought I would share this with you all... Bedini inverted generator mode...

                  • Hey,
I had one of those 18 volt motors down in my motor pile, so I pulled it apart to check. All is good, and at only $20.00 I'm going to pick up a few myself. They are SMALLER than the other motors, so may not be as strong when running. The case is the same diameter, but not as deep, so won't hold as much wire. But for a proof of concept build they will be cheap and awesome. It is only about !/4 of an inch difference in depth (or some metric number beyond my understanding). Picture attached of it vs standard MY1016. The one on the RIGHT is the smaller one if you couldn't tell. One thing though...that sprocket on there can be a Bi#!* to get off. I've delt with those before. Pressed on. Oh, and I had an MY1016 that was only a 250 watt motor, but still four magnets, two sets of brushes, and 16 commutator segments. I guess these motors are like a box of chocolates.

Hi All, I went back on the 3BGS thread when I wound Matts' motor .
Are the magnets in the can arranged nsns , with the poles facing the rotor laminated steel?
Trying to run a pulse an a generating coil at the same time, ??
The meter says there's 40v 'but it won't move?
Looking forward to the new year Thanks artv

                        • hi all.i got a floppy d d spindle motor,as in the pic, running today. 1 iso trafo runs it on 1 phase.being unloaded it spools up like a jet engine.
it was easy to get into.the hub slides off and the stator is held by 2 screws.there were 4 connections to unsolder to separate the stator from the pcb. the motor is wye connected with an extra wire to the junction. i left the pcb out and soldered 4 short lengths of .4 enam copper wire for a low profile leadout, taped down firmly,(not much of a gap there).i put heatshrink over the joins.
i'm still trying to get it to run with the dual iso trafo circuit, with a view to generate with the other 2 phases.
                          cheers

                          • Hello Everyone,

Just a quick update. I finally understand why the Pulse Width Modulator has been working so well for charging the load battery. The Bedini DvD has helped tremendously.

I have just ordered about $500 worth of equipment and will keep every one posted.

                            • Working in the lab late tonight but I wanted to share something I have learned while working on the Tesla Switch. Battery's are a fuel source and with that in mind they wont last forever.

I am sure you all already knew that but its the first time I looked at it in such a way.

                              • After a bit of sleep I am back at it this morning. I had at least one battery die on me last night. So I just spent another $400 on a Battery Analyzer from BK.

                                http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I need to understand every last little bit of whats going on and why.
At this point I just want to make sure I have a way to really look deep into the inner working of the switch.

I seem to be making good progress and hopefully will have some real data to post soon. I do think I am going to go to the 4 battery setup as Bedini shows in his DvD after I get the 3 battery setup stable.
