  • Completely off grid

I have been absent for a long while, but have always been proud of the fact that I know about this forum⚓️.
I have been asked to bring a 90ft boat completely of the grid and that means the boat must operate indipendant of fossil fuels as far as domestic issues go: air conditioning, lights cooking ext.
Now, I have done this in the past (many times) but not for a boat that is 90ft😅
The space I have available for solar is approx 40ft X 20ft and that could be altered to make spacing work without disturbing the boats esthetics.
So, if I hypothetically use 45 panels (Renesola 365W) I could generate 12,000W providing power to 48, 2volt gel Cells potentially delivering 1250A/H usable @ 50% per cell. That convert to 60,000A/H.
Now keep in mind that I can increase my battery power but my potential on solar is not very negotiable. (Because of space)
(I HAVE NOT HAD GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH WIND) ???

The perfect cenario that I want is 25 KW AT ALL TIMES😢. I realize that I am going to need backup and thinking of a DC GENERATOR😩. And that defeat the purpose, but it would do if I have to⚓️

I know this is going to spark lots of interest and I do not care what goes. I would like to have the galley run on HHO if possible (cooking) OR ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS.
My concern is budget as it is with everything today. So if there is a product that you know that can help, hook me up.
I will start posting picks of the boat as soon as I get there.
Hope to hear some good and bad critique in abundance.
    Love and peace out

    Alternate energy storage technology

There is a Youtube video floating around somewhere of a guy that uses solar to produce hydrogen which he compresses and stores to use for heating and cooking. It is rather old conventional technology but it does work and might be cost effective for you. How many people are you planning to have on board? Are you using electricity for propulsion or are you using sails?
There is a reason why science has been successful and technology is widespread. Don't be afraid to do the math and apply the laws of physics.

It is a power boat, with two live aboard. I will have to change most of all the electric. Everything on boats this size is AC. I can not get around certain issues like air conditioning and small apliences, washer and drier, dishwasher ext. So 1or2 inverters are needed to drive those. All the rest will be 12 volt

Is the boat moored on a canal, closed harbour or river?

i.e. Is the water around the boat flowing?
