    • Hi Michel,

Didn't you say something about slowing down a bit? Some 100 docs ago?
Not that you HAVE to, but if this is your 'slowed down' speed, I wonder if the i-net can handle your full speed.

        • Hi Ernst,

Yes, I did slow down, did only 5 yesterday. I skipped a few that were bad, either too dark or too light that I want to return to. Each will take about half a day or more to decipher partially.

I am trying to call on contacts in the US to get the Tesla scans at the Columbia University library. I don't know where your archive comes from but I want to see what's in their possession. Unfortunately my possible contact is outside the country now and for a few more months, hopefully he can grab the whole thing and send it my way whenever he can.

I'll try to do a few that were skipped, that should give you time enough to catch up.

          Take care,

            My dear Mr. Morgan:

We are but cogwheels in the mechanism of
the universe and it is probably an unavoidable consequence
of the laws governing that the pioneer, who is far in advance
of his age, is not understood and must suffer pain and disa-
pointment and be content with the higher reward which is ac-
            corded to him by posterity.

I was chosen to give the world the wireless art - not
an insignificant improvement like Hertz-Wave Telegraphy - but
the greatest invention of all times, a realization of the
Lamp of Aladdin which gives magical powers to Man. Ten years
ago all the experts condemned my efforts as visionary and
even my most successful follower emphatically declared that
it would take centuries before such a wonder as the wireless
transmission of a message across the Atlantic would be accom-
plished. So it comes that to this day the public has not
even a faint conception of what can be done by properly de-
signed apparatus and its skillful manipulation. The enclos-
ures which I take the liberty to forward will throw a little
light on the subject and show how much my work of thirteen
years ago was ahead of the very latest achievements.

In mechanics I am making a similar experience. Seven years
ago I satisfied myself that the new principle of fluid pro-
pulsion which I had discovered would work a tremendous revo-
lution. My first announcements met with the usual skepticism.
Wellknown engineers were of the opinion that a machine on my
plan would not work at all. When I finally managed to pro-
duce a turbine not bigger than a hat; developing one hundred
horsepower, I merely transformed the resistance of ignorance
into one of cunning opposition. If I continue alone, years

may pass before I can see the full fruition of my labors.
If I seek a powerful alliance, I shall have to make the
same sacrifices as in my system of transmission of power
by alternating currents when I gave away with one signa-
ture an immense fortune and a commercial asset, the value
of which cannot even be estimated.

I wish to thank you for your very kind letter of the
17th inst and to express the hope that you will conserve
the friendly interest you have manifested until I com-
plete the machines I am now constructing, when I shall be
able to give you a striking demonstration and perhaps
submit some other proposition which might be acceptable
            to you.

            Believe me,

              Dear Mr. Morgan:

When I asked you for a large loan recently and you
offered me more, my appreciation of your bigheartedness was scarcely
equal to my resolve not to abuse your rare generosity. I was all
the more anxious to work out the solution of my problems with what
funds I had available as I knew from your published statements
that these are trying times which must tax to the utmost your own
              resources.
But since our last meeting new situations have present-
ed themselves and unforeseen events have occurred which necessitated
larger expenditures in the interest of the business I am developing.
I shall soon have results which, I trust, will be of such value as to
make you feel that your vigorous timely assistance was well deserved.

With expressions of deep regard, believe me as ever,
              Yours faithfully.

              Dear Mr. Morgan:

I am forwarding photographs of one of the
machines which your generous assistance has enabled me to
construct and which I am expecting soon to have in running
              order.

This is an invention of the greatest com-
mercial value, sure to create and industrial revolution, and
I hope that you can be persuaded to take it into your strong
hands not only for my sake but for the general good. It will
give you additional power and infuence in affairs which,
vested in a man of your lofty principles, can only be for the
              best.

Please do me the favor of reading the enclosed
statements of a leading electrical engineer which will convey
to you an idea how anxious I am to reach quick results in
order to complete the undertaking which I have begun with your
father and show to the world the full possibilities of my wire-

I have received both your letters.

The result with the Starrett Company is certainly very gratifying, and I feel sure that if you continue along this line you will have great success.

I have been trying all day to get in touch with Mr. Dobbin but unsuccessfully. I am told that he has not been at his office. I shall try again tomorrow, and if the answer is favorable, I will telegraph you.

                              Dear Mr. Tesla:

I enclose herewith copy of Mr. (Berek's ?) report.

Mr. Whiten has given instructions to have the apparatus on the steamer Snider returned to you. I spoke to Mr. Smith about the matter and he would like to know just which machinery you wish to have put ashore. He thinks that the matter can be attended to either next Monday or Tuesday.

The Freeport Sulphur Co. Has just issued its annual report, from which I enclose an extract which may interest you.

I mentioned to you some time ago, that in order to clear the Company's records I need from you an expense account for several sums advanced to you amounting to $700.00. If you will be kind enough to receipt the enclosed statement and return it to me, the matter will be adjusted.

                              Yours very truly,

                              Nikola Tesla, Esq.,

                              Dear Mr. Tesla:

I have your letter of November 3rd, and am very glad to learn the same that the tests with your valvular conduit have shown such satisfactory results, and that the sulphur industry may benefit by this improvement.

It occurs to me that there are innumerable deep oil wells in which pumps are used, and it should be easy to make a business arrangement with some manufacturer of oil well supplies for the introduction of this invention.

I shall be anxious to hear what results you obtain with the device in connection with your turbine.

                              Very truly yours,

                                Jan. 27, 1926.

                                Dear Mr. Tesla:

I stopped at the motor boat show to get some information about the gas turbine but the man in charge of the exhibit told me that they did not care to give any explanation as to the details of construction at the present time. With regard to the compressing the air, he merely told me that it was taken care of inside of the casing; also that the gearing was contained in the casing.

I was told that full information would be available within the next couple of months and left my address to have it sent to me.

Very sorry I could not get more satisfactory results.

                                Very truly yours,

                                Geo. Scherff
