I agree 100% that Iron Filings kills the Real Magnetic Field Visuals...as a matter of fact, I have dedicated a full video to prove why they are wrong, comparing it to Ferrocell, View Film and Color CRT (3 Guns R,G,B):

According to Wheeler's Theory, Higher Pressures which bypass accretion disc, are Higher Speed Flux, which are not captured by neither ferrocell nor view film, BUT, Color CRT does show this lines from pole to pole, at the outer limits of screen, almost out of it.
Iron Filings as you wrote, freeze, shunt, chain the magnetic field, shrinking this higher pressure lines, while hiding the Mid-Pressure 3D Layers, which show two bubbles one for each pole.
When we step into what we all know as "Attraction" and "Repulsion" is when this higher forces field lines enter into stage to play the deciding roles.
On that video comments I wrote related to Attraction:
Attraction, as we all think off...as we have been taught...since the beginning of times...is that Alike Poles Attract...that is a wrong concept...they never do, they never blend, fuse together at all.
When we face a S/N Magnet with a S/N Magnet, like:
[S/N>>S1/N1]
We all perceive that the two end poles N>>S1 are the "Attracting Acting Poles"...but in reality S1 is seeking to Fuse with S from the other magnet...and so, N1 is seeking fusion with N.
Poles in a magnet are generated from the very center (equator) of whatever magnetic carrier volume, outwards, so we have a single magnet looks like:
[ N <<l>>S]
And Attraction between Two would then look like:
[ N <<l>>S] + [ N1 <<l>>S1]
And result from adding above would be:
[N+N1<<l>>S+S1]
Which would give Us a Double strong Magnet as is the sum from both.
Concluding: N1 seeks Fusion with N, since both Origins and Spin Directions are aligned Spatially.
And so S seeks Fusion with S1, also having same origin vectors.
We could be able to see this full interaction with Magnetic Viewing Film, which clearly shows the lighter center green stripe at very center of every magnet...
And when two magnets are attracted and contacted together...we can see how that light green stripe moved from each magnet's center towards the Intersecting Gap... Which means that each magnet Now, became a Full Pole...

And so a Repulsion is the Opposite from Attraction on my previous post:
[ N <<l>>S] + [ S1 <<l>>N1]
Parting from Non Compatible Alike Poles, in above Interaction could not be Any Complete Fusion Seeking Pole, by approaching them, since all directional vectors from the like poles are opposing each others... However, both S+S1 blend together since they are both of same magnetic pressures. When we face two magnetic fields in repulsion we have pure, positive, compressed energy.
