        That being the case, why should there be some absolute number of dimensions, let alone integer dimensions such as 1,2,3,4...11...etc? That's where fractal geometry comes in. "Fractal" is shorthand for "fractional dimensions", e.g. 2.461... dimensions. IMO, this is the realm in which nature operates - "scales boundless toward the great and boundless toward the small" and boundless toward both the great and the small dimensions.

        Of course, the nasty here is that it means there is no such thing as a "quanta" of anything in the universe - neither matter nor energy.
