Note: It is important to note that patents of the time when considering the term "induction coil" has to mean "interrupter" or the implied usage of an interrupter circuit with the induction coil. Reference: https://youtu.be/1bUeARhGJnM?t=22m55s
Excellent search Vidbid!!
Like always, a nice "Story"...which end we all know by now...so, either the guy was a hoax, a scam...or he was taken as a "Crazy Cook"...and no one paid attention to his invention...
As I have also noted we are missing Part "D" Circuit image? He mentioned in Patent...Part "D" should be the starting "Driver" or Controller , plus initial battery source supply and a Rheostat to start regulating currents levels.
About the Statement Quoted above plus video ...non sense at all!
First off let's use some common sense and history dates...
Faraday discovered Induction (based on COILS) Forty (40) Years before (in August 1831) Cook's Patent was issued in 1871...
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL MCFARLAND COOK, of Mansfield, in the county of Richland and State of Ohio, have invented an Electro-Magnetic Battery, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to the combination of two or more simple or compound helices and iron cores or magnets in such a manner as to produce a constant electric current without the aid of a galvanic battery.
Now, where in this world this Rick guy, gets the so smart idea about the "Interrupter" meaning instead of what is meant to be...Induction, EMF Induction....Magnetism Induction...
I searched another opinion by Harold Aspden from Aether Science...back in 2007.
He is comparing Cook's Coils to a big Capacitor...which bolts down to Static Electricity...assuming the insulation mentioned to protect wires from shorting Plus, from the heat produced when operating...into a Capacitor Dielectric...
Then we have this other OU...Member "Peterae"...to whom I give credit to the fact of bringing Patent for discussion there, plus some analysis as to why we can not understand the now seen as a "stupid" way to connect coils in a closed looped circuit, blocked by the new electronics approach to electrical generation of currents...but then, he disappoints me by the way he interprets the Final Secondaries where Final Output is taken from... being done with very fine wire...and high resistance is very nonsensical ...
Cook's Patent, basically shows an ELECTROMAGNETIC DEVICE, not an "Interruptor" of any sort...As Cook's is neither referring to "Capacitance" there, nor Dielectric or Static Currents...but VERY ELECTROMAGNETIC and so VERY Dynamic.
As to the final output Secondary Coils Wire...Cook even suggests to replace it by a RIBBON of conductive material...watch the width..
A ribbon spiral may be substituted for the secondary helix, say of three, six, twelve, or twenty four inches in width and of any convenient length, but always of sufficient length to raise the tension of its terminal current to a degree necessary to reproduce itself by its action on the primary helix.
My opinion on this Patent?
Very logical, very smart way to amplify a Magnetic Field right from the innermost core within the whole assembly...where a "Compound of Helices" of very fine wire (He recommends 30 awg) starts the whole thing from inside-out to the outermost layers of coils...having the most thicker kind of conductor ever available for super high currents and tension (V) output.
Then he connects two of this assemblies together...obviously in SERIES, as he mentions end to start connect...or "opposite poles" terminals.
He starts the device with an Exterior RHEOSTAT which forms part of circuit "D" which includes a Battery...NONE seen on Patent for some reason I have no idea...just explained in text.
What Cook is doing...is making "EIGHT CURRENTS" as later he writes it is actually "just one"...but for better figuring this out he brakes it in eight...why different?
Just because they pass through EIGHT different resistances of wire circuitry through the whole assembly...why is he doing this?
He "loops" all this different currents of different levels of strength, continuously transiting through coils/cores...generating a Fluctuating Magnetic Field from inside out then from outside back in...and so on.
I would say...go to Figuera and watch clearly how it is done exteriorly with a resistors box as an example...
Fluctuations of the Spatially Generated Magnetic Field without never falling to zero...as never being negative...Caused by currents alternatively fluctuating (getting Low, Mid levels then getting Higher...then going back to low, mid, high...and so on and on like the Energizer Rabbit ...back and forth through the whole system.
Only difference I see here is that Cook design uses the resistance from coils "Compound" which also happen to supply a magnetic field to the System.
Very smart way to use coils for two purposes...excellent and super robust cores and coils...very long (up to six feet he wrote)...imagine the storage capacity of such coils...imagine the Magnetic Fields Generated there as well...I would say "primarily attend the Magnetic Field" before engaging in heavier circuits and so on...Plus...by being so distant apart...there is absolutely none Self Magnetism Leakage between closer poles coils design...
Notice he writes to WIND ALL COILS IN SAME DIRECTION...Why?
So there would be ONLY ONE SPATIAL MAGNETIC FIELD ORIENTATION GENERATED...simple.
And...if anyone tries to "Interrupt" the Flow of Currents...by Collapsing Field, using spark gaps or whatever...expecting to obtain full, and constant currents at output...is DEAD WRONG...You kill, flat line that Magnetic Field...everything collapses with it...to then Restart the whole thing over and over...but in the same exact place and going absolutely nowhere at all. Obviously you will get something there...but never OU, never a self runner like it was meant to be.
Anyways...just my take on this...My two pennies here...

Very good, UFO.
Rich does have a point in essentially saying that the patent title wording has the term "improvement".
I think I'll look at some induction coil patents of the same era to see if there is any link in using interrupters.
By the way, if anybody can source me the following quote, I would appreciate it:
Maybe give us a link to where the quote is posted.

"By cleverly counter-balancing their equal and opposite reactions to each other, in space and in time, partly by mechanics, partly by timing, partly by circuitry, and partly by material science, Mechanical / Electrical work can be extracted from them sufficient to show so-called OverUnity production of Net Energy ...
That means, efficiency greater than 100%, an actual Amplification of the available energy as opposed to a net Consumption of the energy.".
"Perpetual motion is stored in the magnets. The Magnets ARE the Motor."

I simply meant that the patent is probably only covering the improvement and not much else.
Hence, a possible explanation for the lack of detail about Circuit D.
But, it is interesting to note Benitez in reference to the use of the interrupter in his patents, as Rick mentions. I'll have to check that out for myself, though his patents come somewhat later.
Thanks for the source reference.

The primitive method of evaporation proved unsatisfactory to his restless and aspiring mind and culminated in the "Cook Evaporator" in the year 1858, a complete, clean and almost perfect process, used to evaporate maple sap and more especially to make syrup from sorghum.* During these years of scientific thought and research, began his investigation of mesmerism, magnetism and electricity.* Nearly half a century has passed since he began active work upon this principal and to study and investigate the nature and science of electricity.* And from a novitiate he became one of the greatest electricians of the present century.*

Hello Core,
I guess We all could end that reading above with an enthusiastic...
AMEN...
And here Ladies and Gents...lies the expected "end" of this story...like I wrote on my previous post...guess by the timing of those years, the "goodbye farewell" was still with some religious "touch"...
So, the guy never did crap...the journalist who watch the three machines plus the compact one working...was also suffering from some "optical delusion"...the efforts to patent such device were also worthless...and so, we all should bury this story teller...along with all the rest we have on file -which by now...I wonder if there is still room for another one- ...
May God allow Mr Cook's Spirit to rest in peace...

Do you have a link to the reporter Eye Witness story? I can't seem to find it. Also I had NO IDEA Cook invented a Arc Light. It said he patented the light in the story but a quick search didn't uncover anything.

Core,
The reference link to that Article was on first page...:
Also, the Patent never mentions the fact of using absolutely no "Prime Mover"...or Motor...anywhere.

To prove he was unsuccessful you need to know more about the device he produced. I strongly believe it is the base ground for every important invention from his times up to now. Hubbard,Figuera, nazi flying saucer and probably many many more including Tariel Kapanadze first device and other inventions actually presented on youtube. Now the information is very incomplete but the same was for Figuera when we had only one old newspaper article at the beginning.
