built this design and I couldnt get it to work. I think my pot was to great of resistance. It appears to me though the vidoe imotep posted shows his fan running with no batteries hooked up. Im debating on rebuilding this one or just building a bedini motor from scratch making my own coils and would also like to ask if that style bedini motor is selfrunning. TY

I havn't been able to understand the 5 wires.
There are inconsistencies in the sches.
What are you calling the modified NC wire?
What is 87a referring to? there is no connector for it.
When you show abunch of twisted wires in the movie it confuses me.
Apparently it's easy for many people but I want to understand
how it goes together before I try to hook it up.
Perhaps someone could chime in and offer some clarity for my denseness.
Didn't have a problem with the fan motor. Did 2 in last 24 hours and they work fine.
I have put together a Bedini fan charger thanks to the info from Imhotep. I have it running from a N70Z lead acid battery and charging a flat sulfated 18aH sealed lead acid battery. It has brought the battery voltage up to about 9v. I was looking at information on the Stingo circuit that mentioned putting a capacitor in parallel across the charging battery. I tried this on the bedini fan with surprising results. Firstly I placed a 1uF Microwave cap across the battery and the voltage jumped up to 65v. I then reduced the size of the cap till I had the battery voltage down to 15v and let it run over night. By today the battery voltage had dropped to 11.5v so I have increased the cap size again and the voltage has risen to 15v. The charging current is only 2mA and the fan is drawing 620mA from the supply battery. The current draw of the fan does not change when the different size caps are fitted.
Has anyone had the same experience with their fans?

i have placed caps across the charging batteries and it does help with the charging rate without affecting the current draw from the fan, if you are trying to de-sulfate a battery however, i never used the caps because in order for it to de-sulfate you want the high voltage spikes to help this process. the cap prevents this spike by smoothing it before reaching the battery

You need a 2n3055 transistor, or similar. Keep working on it and you will get there, having said that your batteries are very big so I don't think you will get results with these using a computer fan.
If you build a Bedini SSG to Johns specifications you will be able to work with these batteries.
Hello Imhotep, i am new to all this but just built your PC fan and works well but seems to be discharging the drive battery fastand not charging the charge battery fast, i have turned the speed down and it is only using about 27m AMP's would like to try the fast charger that you showed in your video, would you be able to send me how this is all set up so i can try it, would also like to know how you set up the one to run an inverter.
also would like to know have you managed to set up a self runner so it never runs the drive battery down.
hope to hear from you and anyone else that could help on this.

modified a large power supply fan and all seems to be working ok.
the neon is lighting up nicely as well - 90V.
BUT, there must be something wrong in my circuit - i have checked it
multiple times and it is set up as in the schematic.
when trying to charge a battery, it seems to drain and not charge it.
i am trying to regenerate a nearly dead 12V 7.2AH battery.
it has been sitting outside for a month and now shows 0.5V, from 10.5V before.
i have used two different sources.
1. 12V 7.2AH - brand new battery.

the speed on this was quiet a bit 12V fan. maybe too fast?
neon was flashing at first but speed picked up and neon was constantly on.
i must be doing something wrong, but i can not seem to find it.
i have checked the circuit and all. neon lights up nice.

had one strange thing happen with a previous neon.
was filming the neon flash in a red/purple colour and turned off the
light (11W CFL) on my desk, so that you can see it better on the camera.
for some reason the neon also turned off.
it was light on, neon on, light off, neon off.
shortly after that the neon did not light up again.
it was one from a disposable camera.
swapped it with a 90V one and now it is flashing again.
G'day aussie, Maybe the battery you are trying to charge is Kaput. Someyimes the voltage of the battery you're trying to recover go's up then down and so forth for a bit as it become's desulfated, if it is ok it should eventually charge up. However 7 Ah gell cells can go bad like that especially if they sit in the sun, they can dry out then without moisture they won't work.
Best way to test you're fan is try it with a good battery and see if the voltage rises on that. I use 7 Ah batteries that went dry but I pried the tops of them and removed the rubber valve caps and put a bit of distilled water in each hole, I used a syringe for feeding puppies it has a long thin plastic tube on it, which helps to get the water in the hole. Then I put the caps back on sit the cover plate on there with a weight on it ( the valve caps can pop off ).
Then I leave it for a while so the gell can take up the moisture. If the battery is bad what is there to lose. THe first time I do it I just use about 20 mls of water. If that don't work I fill em up to about 1cm below the hole.
After you do this if you do. The battery can only be used in the upright position. And it will make gas you'll hear it. The valve caps can pop pretty good and get lost. When you think the battery might be usefull, tape the top on or glue it back on.
Restoring the battery will happen faster when you are able to start discharging and recharging it with the fan.
Mine usually only hold a much reduced amount of charge compared to a new one, but they can be usefull for a long time. Some will fix some won't depends what happened to the battery.
UPS,s can totally destroy those 7 Ah batts if the power drain on the UPS is too much for too long. Those batteries aren't really designed to put out 300 watts for long. But they do it, for a minute or two.

P.S. Don't lean over the battery and look at the caps on there while the battery cover is off if a cap pop's and flies it can have some acid spray.
thats why I put the cover on and a weight on it. Glasses is an option. Always protect you're eye's.
