Yes Danny, one could go to a dive shop for an air car refill supposing that the dive shop's manifold connectors are the same as utilized for the air car tank. A scuba tank air charge typically costs about 7 or 8 dollars, but an air car will require a much larger tank, so the refill would be quite expensive. Besides, how often do you see dive shops when out on an Interstate highway or turnpike? Commercial air cars will simply be impractical unless used for short distance drives near home, where you will be able to plug in an onboard compressor and recharge overnight.
Agree, but it depends on location. Living here in Florida, finding a dive shop is not to much of an issue.

Based on the write up on the air car, 125 miles per tank is perfect for any urbanite. There is an issue you can purchase a copressor for under 3k to fill the tank at home. Based on my driving in city, Real Estate agent, I pay about $320 a month now for gas, so a compressor would be paid for in the first year.

As for tank size, im guessing about 1100 to 1200 cuft of air, based on the size of 120 scuba tanks for estimate (bout 10 tanks, 2 high and 5 across)

      Re: urnbanite air car use

Looks like you would be all set to take advantage of an air car Danny, but many people won't. If you just drive around your local area, you won't need to go to a dive shop or purchase a $3,000 compressor, because the air car features an on-board compressor that you can plug in to home AC. The main drawback would be the 4 to 6 hour recharge time required, but if you recharge while you are sleeping, then there's no problem.

The aircar technology is a great idea, but would be far better if the air was recompressed and recirculated back to the storage tanks instead of being wasted to the atmosphere, which is the only reason a recharge is necessary.

      Happy air-motoring to you,

If you guys are really interested in air cars check out a thread I started awhile ago.
        http://www.energeticforum.com/renewa...c-options.html

If you checkout the website in the first post on air power there are a number of self sustaining air motors with patents on that link. They can compress the air as they go. This may sound like perpetual motion but it isnt. These motors use the ambient heat of the atmosphere, thus making them solar energy motors.

Thanks for the link Skyavy. Some well done research there.
