    Miss spoken - miss interpreted

I started this thread to find ways to bring more people up to speed and get more brain power on the same pages, and do that without spending exorbitant amounts of time rehashing the same things over and over.

Muttdog: In no way was I implicating elite or child status on anyone, only expressing a frustration with some, not necessarily you. (take it any way you like)

jimmer: Don't worry about the big boys or hindering anyone.

I do have a hard time when I read posts that go like.

" I want to build a hydroxy generator, I want it to power my car to the moon, If I use 6"x6" plates what kind of copper do I use and how many amps will it draw, how much baking soda do I put in it, how many mpg will I get and how about you just build it for me"

I also worry about those who may not understand what the technology is about or how to be safe with it.(checking for a gas leak with a lighted match)

I am more than happy to answer a question or add a different perspective if I can, I'm still in a continual learning mode myself.
Pleased to be of service in assisting someone to do, unwilling to do it for them.

    Best wishes to all

      Probably well known, but...

First off, muttdogg... Well said. We've all been "newbies" at some point in everything.

I'm sure that all of the veterans here know about these links, but these are ones that I think "newbies" should be directed to.

      Kurze Werbeunterbrechung
(In German on the first page, just click through at the bottom, everything else is in English)

Free Direct Files Hosting - HotlinkFiles.com
(links to a LOT of the very important files on the various subjects of ZPE)

yes, they'll take some digging/reading/time/self-motivated-learning... We seem to live in a time when everyone wants everything "handed to them". And I think it's good to help/share/give info etc... But the truth is that some have spent years, decades, a lifetime, researching, reading, learning, experimenting, failing, succeeding, relearning, re-reading, re-researching, sharing, helping, getting help, etc. I personally believe that we should all teach and help each other, but I can completely relate to and understand the feelings of some folks that are weary (wary) of others. We share and when someone comes back with their own results and more questions, we all learn and grow from that exchange. OTOH, it causes hurt feelings and resentment over all the time and effort spent when someone comes along and says, basically, "Tell me how to do this", gets told a LOT of info from a LOT of people with a LOT of experience, THEN comes back and either hasn't done things as it was explained & complains that it doesn't work OR hasn't done anything (& complains that it hasn't worked ) OR doesn't come back and share/report at all (only comes back when they have problems which makes it a one-way-exchange), OR, the worst of all, takes others info/ideas/designs/advice that has been freely and openly given and packages it up as their own to sell online - Ebay, their own website, etc... this one really ticks me off. When I got the time to "get back into" these things, I did an internet search. One of the first links was an online place that had lots of "teasers", but no "meat"... unless you purchased their info package. It wasn't a lot, but money is tight. I bit. EVERY bit of that info was lifted from this and other open public sites! EVERY BIT. I consider it fraud, but caveat emptor... I learned my lesson. PAID a bit of money for FREE information that is FREELY GIVEN by good folks. They provided the info that they said they would, but they'd made it out like they had something that nobody else knew/had. BIG LIE! The info is out here. I have never and will never purchase like that again. Go to reputable people (like RedMeanie here), there are a LOT of rip-offs.

      OK... sorry... rant-mode == off...

          Old school blockage

Field: I don't know about the knowing of others, I myself am old school and don't savvy all the things about computers and how to do some of the things that seem easy for others, ie...posting links. (I just recently put away my slide rule)

I have to write them down and then type them in, hence a lot of time and lost effort when I copy wrong. When I said I read all the posts in this forum, I did so because I was unaware of any search feature and wasn't sure what I needed or wanted to know, best to skim everything.(or almost)

I stated that I want more brain power on the subjects at hand, this is for the entire planets benefit, for the more of us that work and think on these things the less likely it is for those who wish to suppress the technology and us, to be able to do so.

I also had been researching and applying alternative energy for quite a few years before I got here (1976 or so) I don't expect others to have the same experience that I do and I know many have more than I or in different relative fields.

So back to topic: I'm not the best at computers thus I put it out to the forum to assist with starting a beginners or newbie page with links and basic info so as to bring them up to speed quickly.

Any efforts I'm sure will be appreciated by all, I will add what ever I can as often as possible.

Best wishes and lets get to work

          Dave

            RE: Newbies..

I am a computer geek, however I am a complete dunce when it comes to electronic componets... Or at least ordering them.

Yesterday I went to order the parts for my Solid State SG from mouser and I am trying to figure out how to find a 555 timer...

I type in the search for 555 timer and 129 items come up. I see terms that leave me bewildered... ( see attached pic )

I understand tht a 555 timer can come in different forms, but i don't know which of these terms match what i am looking for...

So I will trade some computer knowledge for a geek at electronics :-)

              Hi Mart,

I don't need any computer help, but... (and I don't mean to or want to "hijack" this thread... )

              Try this:

Type: timers and/or standard (to select more than one item, use the control key when clicking on the additional item)

Package: for purposes of these experiments, it is generally easiest to use a DIP-8 package. (Dual Inline Package - 8 pins)

Supply voltage (max): 18V for these projects/experiments

              Packaging: Bulk

Don't worry about the other stuff... it'll work out...

                Forest Mims

I learned a lot by buying the little Forest Mims books from radio shack. I don't think they even sell them anymore at Radio Shack.
FORREST MIMS GETTING STARTED IN ELECTRONICS | BOOKS | ELECTRONICS | SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS

He has a 555 timer book...get it because it is a good compilation of very simple walk thrus on building 555 timer circuits with all specs and more. Yes, all of this is free online in bits and pieces but those who take the time to put info together in very coherent compilations that save people time and effort deserve to be supported in my opinion.

These are different from the Radio Shack branded books:
FORREST MIMS GETTING STARTED IN ELECTRONICS | BOOKS | ELECTRONICS | SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS

But looks like he compiled several of them into single volumes.

The first one looks like the one with 555 info in it.

Volume I of the Forrest Mims Engineer's Mini Notebook series includes three of his best-selling notebooks: 555 Timer IC Circuits; Op Amp Projects; and Optoelectronics.
This Engineer's Mini notebook features more than two dozen 555 timer circuits that you can build, including tone generators, LED flashers, sound-effects circuits, and a touch switch. It also includes more than 50 operation amplifier (Op Amp) circuits, many with simple formulas to help you modify them for special circuits of your own design. A wide range of optoelectronic circuits and projects are featured, including many LED circuits and various lightwave communication systems.

                It is $12.95
                https://www.w5yi.org/ssl/cart.php?ac...em&id=39&qty=1
$7 shipping and $1 additional for each extra book.

Anyway, Forest Mims books are VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND. Good resource.

When I first started, I didn't even know what a transistor was. All I knew was I had the school girl schematic for example, got the part #'s. Looked at the diagrams to see what piece gets connected to the other piece. When you looked at my circuit, it literally looked like the schematic.

Now, I still don't know all the intricate details of how they really work...junction this and junction that...all meaningless to me. What I do know is that a npn transistor is a water faucet valve. Flow goes into the collector but can't go out the emitter until you turn on the valve by putting voltage at the base. Remove base voltage and the water faucet turns off. I do know that you can get the water hammer effect with the voltages if the flow gets too restricted and bumps backwards, etc...

If you notice, the terms collector and emitter are correct as far as the direction of how the heaviside flow is moving over the wire. You'll notice how it is backwards from conventional explanations focusing on how the electron current goes to the emitter and out the collector. That confuses too many people...regardless of what the current does or how it moves...just focus on the truth of how the gas flows into the collector and out the emitter...focusing on all the backwards movement of the electron flow is unecessary if you want to see these circuits as gas valves.
                Sincerely,
                Aaron Murakami

                    Slide rule

                    Tarkus:
Gotsta give kudos to anyone familiar with a slide rule. Never learned how to use one myself. I understand any frustration with new posters, however, they. he, or she may have much more learning than you or I know. I have been on other forums where new ideas are not only frowned upon, but if you are not "with " their ideas, you don't even get a reply. I am hoping this forum will not degenerate to that level. It seems very easy for the average to become the "elite". By the way, when I started, punch cards were the rage.

                      Punch Cards

Mutt: I to don't wish to see this site degenerate,

I also remember the computer room at CSN now called CSUN in LA. The keyboard and printer were a paper ribbon run Teletype that took up the basements of both science buildings.
The original FORTRAN frustrated me so I gave up on computers back then, silly me.

The intention of a "newbie" page or section was to give new comers a way of getting up to speed and weeding out those who don't want to put any effort into learning or contributing here.

                      Best wishes

                          Hi Red,

That's true... I just want to add that if someone doesn't understand certain specs, they might end up with something very difficult to use. IE: it's a lot easier on a "hobbyist" level to deal with DIP chips than surface mount. I recently had someone that I'd given a circuit printout to order parts... instead of axial lead resisters he ended up with 1206 surface mounts! (for anyone that doesn't know, those are fairly small, little rectangular resistors that are not suitable for use on a proto-board at all...) That's why I gave the details that I did...

Also, Aaron's recommendation of Forrest Mims' books are great. It's been so long that I'd forgotten them. I learned quite a bit as a curious youngster... lo those many decades ago!

I am not sure how to approach this subject, so I did very little research and came up with what is appropriate

Most people would sooner die than think; in fact, they do so.

                            And of coarse the one I find close to my heart regarding this subject;

I believe this is the start of a beautiful relationship. I never agreed that there should'nt be another thread to steer newbies, However, as a poster on other websites, I had seen almost equal posts on other forums, no offense to you. John Bedini was a newbie on this forum, for a while. It is very off-putting to a newbie to be re-directed to the children's table just because that is their first post. There is no way to see if a poster has any knowledge, until they stick their foot in their mouth, or bring an idea to the table. If I am rehashing, please forgive me. You seem to be interested in free energy, or at least cheap energy. Also, I started with punch cards. Wanna do top that? How about data entry? Okay I'm old, no doubt.

Could we maybe work on a page where we have the FAQ&A for the topic, keep it to the most popular topics ie... SSG or Hydroxy or any topic that attracts a lot of discussion (don't call it a newbie page, just new to the field)

I'm concentrating on HHO, but know if I delved into SSGs or peters NBEMF motors I'd have a lot of questions.
