Doh!
Gentlemen,
My deepest apologies for polluting this thread with my steep learning curve.
All the diagrams of my SG posted previously are incorrect.
Seems I had the wires crossed and all connections to the base were actually to the collector and all connections to the collector were actually to the base. (I'll edit my drawings ASAP so at least the data will be correct.)
I could tell the girl just wasn't right, she never had been and it was really bugging me. The pot had burned out, so I took the girl apart and while I was there decided I'd test the transistor. Well, I confirmed that the tranny was good, and in so doing I discovered I didn't know my base from my collector.
Cut me a little slack, this is my first experience with transistors. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed...but I am a tool.
Armed with my new found knowledge, I set about rewiring the SG as per Ihmotep's method. Still no dice. I just couldn't make it run any way except the bass-akwards way and that just didn't satisfy me.
So I wired the machine according to the diagram over at the (official?) yahoo group Bedini_Monopole3 : Bedini_Monopole3
WOW!!
TOTAL TRANSFORMATION!
The action at the charging position is scary now, and she spins so hard that I'm going to have to clamp it down, it wants to take off flying. Still no light in the neon but there's definitely some high energy in there because she bit me and it hurt. I have a new respect for the School Girl. And I won't be so cavalier about grabbing her ever again.
She sure does run alot different now. I'll get back to ya'll when I can...I'll be busy correcting the drawings and learning how to drive the SG again.
Peace
PJ
