  • what is your hho cell putting out?

hi guys i'm just wanting to compare cell designs and outputs and amp consumption. i'm trying to settle on a good design without spending to much cash. currently i have a 12 tube 225mm long 316l setup that makes 1lpm @9.89 amps. but with 2 teaspoons of pottasium hydroxide output jumps to 4lpm i'm unsure of the amps as yet because my multi meter maxes out at 20amps. am i on track? am getting a pwm built to run this rig so hopefully i can get the amp usage down to a good level.

thanks for any input you might have.

Look in thred named - all about electrolysers, joe cells etc.
There you can find excellent efficiency calculator, made by Kumaran, in xls file, look for Kumarans or mine posts. I even posted this xls file in my last post.with this calculator you can calculate yours cell efficiency, and compare it to others hho generators.
For good efficiency it seems there are no other way than to condition the stainless plates, also please read about conditioning.
It is great to see one more man interested in hho producing, so good luck, and dont forget to share your results!

        Hey Dave,

Could you possibly post some pics of your cell, never seen a 12 tube one before. I would like to see it, sure sounds like it would look really cool, kinda like a rocket launcher on a helicopter, LOL. Mine is only a "five shooter" tube design. Could you also tell what your tube diameters and spacing are on your tubes? One more Q, do you get alot of foam when you are cookin out 4lpm?
IF IT DOESN'T EXIST, CREATE IT!!!

here is a pic of mine, scroll down.....

          http://www.energeticforum.com/energy...r-coating.html

I do not have a completed picture online. I built it this way so i could run as many tubes as i wanted. I can also hook different circuits up at the same time and observe different results on each tube. The best results I have ever obtained is with a deregulated altenator, exactly the same as meyers schematic. I can run a micro torch with it and i can build up 5 psi in about one minute. I have never calculated effiency because I know it is not enough production! This cell is awsome for testing on a bench top.

if anyone has a conditioning process for the electrodes please pm to me or post a link been doing searches but it takes so long to read thru all the non related stuff that comes up in the search its doing my head in.

              Conditioning

Hey, look in all abou electrolysers, thread.
Conditoning ar made two ways - bob bounce setup: - when using amperes, not hvoltage, - you must just run your hho gen, at about 10 amps and change the koh solution - every hour put in new and fresh koh solution. And you will notice that koh gets brown, or yellowish.
Actually i got brow koh after 30mins at 27amps.
There are another receipe for hho gens who are driven by high voltage. So keep studying

What is the advantage to using potasium over regular baking soda? I know it is more efficient in how much it takes but does it produce more gas at the same amps? Also I seen elswhere on what contains the potasium or substitutes such as drain cleaner or red devil lye. Where do you find this at? Here in Florida these are gone from the shelves of even the oldest farm and hardware stores. I can crank 10 amps straight wired (got a PWM on the way) from my Smacks design at about 3/4 lpm. Thats not, real good! Will I do better on potasium?

                  Hey Hi-octane.

Where in Fl. Are you? I'm in Orlando.

You can get Red Devil Lye at some grocery stores, some drug stores, some smaller hardware stores or you can get Sodium Hydroxide(lye) based drain opener at Wal-mart, Lowes or Home depot. Just read the labels. It is %50-%70 concentration depending on brand.
They also carry Potassium Hydroxide, usually Enforcer brand in a red plastic bottle labeled "10 minute hair clog remover. Not sure of concentration, but there is an 800 number on the label you can call to find out.

Thanks Antiquer. I am in DeFuniak Springs. I've tried the older stores. I will try Wal-Mart later today for the other replacements. Baking soda is not the best thing to use. I am going to order the potasium online this week, just wanted to know alternatives.

Try ordering from a soap-making website. My mom is a distributer in Arizona, but will not sell online due to the whole meth scene and haz-mat shipping. There are a lot of places that ship KOH aka "potash" online...just do a google search.

I picked up 10 lbs of Potassium Hydroxide off of Ebay. Took about a week to get it delivered and price was good.

                          Hey hioctane;

That same seller on e-bay has a 2 lb. plastic jar for $6.99 plus shipping(about $10.50). The hair clog remover is cheaper and easier to handle and a lot more available.

Whatever you use be very careful. KOH or NAOH is very caustic. In the powder form even the fumes will combine with the moisture on your skin and start to burn. It will also eat paint off of most anything; I used to order it in 100 lb. lots for stripping paint off metal.

Thanks, I found some on ebay earlier. Also elsewhere in the forum there is a link to where it is available, it's used in the soapmaking field. I was just looking locally before ordering. They treat you as a criminal if you order or buy too much of the stuff. It looks as if I will order so I can have the "clean air formula". Also you don't have to replenish the chemicals in the water that often, just top off the water as needed and check the amps when in doubt. I keep mine below 9 when cold and it creeps to 10 hot. Thats what I am doing now, and all works good. I will do much better as soon as I get the EFIE and PWM installed and set up. May be safe up to 10-15 amps. Again, thanks for all the help.
