I suppose that my resistor is 1/2 watt. I did not run it for so long to see if it heats or not, but it was not heating in the several minutes I ran it. I also used a 100 ohm pot in series with it. The interesting fact is when I increase the pot to its maximum it does not start oscillating, but if I put it at its minimum and make it start, then it does not matter how much I increase it, the relay does not stop oscillating. I am planning to use a 1K ohm 10turn pot to see how much I can reduce the current draw when it starts running.
BTW, I am very optimistic about this, and I think that soon enough we are going to reach an efficient lighting system for our homes. Thank YOU and Peter and others!
