  • Turbine wind generator

I feel totally ridiculous opening this thread but I guess somebody will have fun with it.
Yesterday I had to move a boat of mine and when I pulled up the anchor along came this wind generator.
Little research and this is a very good unit.
Pulled it apart and the coil seems to be good, continuity between the three leeds and it does not ground out.
But I have something that I know you guys can make something incredible out of.
My goal is to be able to charge 6 X 8D batteries with this unit FAST and be able to keep up with my load.
My load at this time is not known but I guess the max this baby can handle will be good enough for me.
Shall I just restore her?, or shall we have fun?

When you are posting scroll down and there will be a manage attachments? option. You have to upload the images, so make them small.

          Wind geberator.

          Hey Shellback,
Let me know what you find. Even if it is an old farm-style, if it spins, or you can get it to spin, you have a pump/turbine.

Definitely go for it... Those marine wind gens are awfully expensive. Many i've seen will put out 6 amps or more. There are versions of those that tow behind a boat underwater, too.

They are pretty corrosion resistant so if it wasnt in the water too long you may be in luck

All i ever snag with my anchor is sea weed and clumps of stinking mud ;(

              Soak it

Its usuallly do able to restore these.

Like engines that have been submerged. There is a process for bringing them back. There are solutions to dip and leave to displace moisture.

Try it! What have you to lose.

You sound like a man who has great potential for fishing!

              Good Luck...

                  looks good.
personally i would be more likely to cut the blades off and use it as a gene, maybe on a Bedini SG wheel, as these turbines are designed to be as little resistance as possible.

I still have not been able to find the parts I need..
The manufacturer is impossible to reach to get the values of the capacitor and the rectifier also a no go on that switch.
                    Can somebody please help.
