I have to admit I am beginning to panic. The world has gone from crumbling to the early stages of an avalanche.
The cost of fuel is soaring, and this is raising the price of everything to a point I can barely afford to go to work!
Our freedoms and liberties are being stripped away and more and more each day I feel trapped and .... I can't think of a word for it, a feeling that I have little influence on the direction of my/our fate. "Helpless" probably describes it best.
I have had an escape plan for a while now, though implementing it is harder than I thought and the longer I leave it the harder it gets due to finances.
to sum it up, basically it is a Static Caravan. Not on a holiday park obviously but on land where I may have some freedom, whether it is my own land or rented. I have seen land around here being rented for around £200 a year, which seems very reasonable! But it is a bit more complicated then simply getting land a plonking a caravan on it. Planning permission is needed for a static caravan, then I will have to have it wired to the grid (not that I intend to depend on the grid, but may need mains electricity to begin with), and have water installed. I guess it depends how far I am willing to go.
If I want to keep working, then the land will have to be fairly close to public transport since I don't drive, so that makes it more complicated.
the ultimate goal is to remove my self from the grid, and the whole system for that matter. I spent most of my life in Asia and still have a beautiful house on 11 acres on land in the mountains of india. While I was there we didn't have mains electricity or running water. We just had solar panels and a generator, and got our water from the rain . Most of our food came from the land as well. It is now grown into the Indian Centre of Biodynamic Farming.

( I am not the artist, but let's just say I am "associated" with him )
I could always just go back to India. But I would like to see if it is possible to do the same thing in the UK. But to do that, I am going to have to play "their" game and get cash together.
Well so far this has just been a long rant, so sorry about that. Though has anyone got experience with the kind of thing i am thinking about?
Perhaps we can start a new thread for alternative lifestyles?
