Love to see them and I need help!
Hi Ash,
Thanks for the info, any chance of seeing your plugs? How did they perform?
If anyone is wondering, I still don't have the jig right for drilling the plug shoulder, so until then, I am doing some other research.
Ok, for the mechanically minded out there. I am also very much into Joe Cell research which has been ongoing now for a few years. Last year I had a sort of break through in that I was able to leave my motor idling for almost two hours on 2 separate occasions with fuel cut. I only found out later that the fuel return line was still allowing fumes through but normally these won't support combustion. I also drove on 3 separate for up to 15 klm's with fuel cut so I knew that the cell was doing something. Then the motor just started playing up and I shelved it for about 6 months. A few months ago, I installed it in the engine bay and for a short time all was well then nothing seemed to improve, so I just left it there. A couple of days ago, bored waiting for my jig, I started to play with it again. I knew now from experience that it works better when totally unconnected to the vehicle, so I sat it on the passenger floor on a small ply table. Then I wrapped a pvc hose around it which is connected to a water tank through which the motor draws a vacuum. I've been running this tank for a while as it tends to cool the motor and clean it at the same time. Ok, in the past the motor played up to the point where I had to spend mega bucks on a carbie overhaul. Done late last year, so the carbie should be pretty clean. Well next thing I know is that the darn thing is flooding like crazy as I am driving along - maybe block jet?? That's what I was thinking until I decided to turn the fuel off. That drained what was in the carbie and all was good. Fuel on, flooding again!! So it got to the point where I am now driving about 400m with fuel cut then give it a 1 -2 second burst of fuel and it drives fine for the most part. But now, even with fuel cut, I seem to be getting a syphoning back from the fuel return. BTW plenty of power for the time the fuel is off. Depending what speed and how I am driving, I can go for up to 1 kilometre before the fuel burst is necessary.
So, for the mechanically minded here, does it sound like a blockage in the carbie? Or do you think the fuel return is dumping too much for the carbie to handle. I am thinking of fitting a stop valve on the return line to prevent syphoning back. Now would I have the power I have if it's a blockage?
Any thoughts on this will be appreciated!
Cheers
Jeff
