    Oil is spice

    Dune metaphor

I do belive the planet Iracus = Middle East and

    Oil = Spice

Energy is a barometer for inflation more stable than any other form

Stay tuned till something better comes along. Maybe wind, Solar, Hydro...

Keep on testing the elements for answers

So, the "currency" is what WE make it. How we use it is a totally different matter.
      ...
      Warren
      ..

There are a few powerful themes here.
The emergence of agriculture and industrialization were very disruptive to those that did not possess them or benefit from them.
The rapid development of sciences as a result of those events further widened the gap and created suffering requiring evolutionary change.

Each time society achieves a magnitude growth in energy, innovation and science go through a new renaissance. For a time, the divide between those that understand the processes and those that don't increases. As new capabilities are provided, new wants take their place limited probably only by our imagination.

Any person, company, or country that enjoys cheap energy enjoys prosperity. The energy bubble will utimately be a win for those inside and harder for those outside.

At least temporarily ... Because information is shared rapidly now, the gaps can close faster too.

There was an article in one financial magazine that listed the top ten larged failed cities in the USA - all were manufacturing centers that had collapsed.

Another article about the world's largest producer of silicon, also in the USA that recaptures their waste heat to generate 40% of their electrical needs.

The competitive advantage of a serious energy policy is profound.

Here's a link to a company developing a 100KW generator that's half the size of my hot water heater and could run on natural gas and power my neighborhood. (I am not affiliated with the company)

      Free Piston Power Home

If the local hardware store sold these , it would be a real game changer.
If I had it, I'd probably make my own water from the air and scrub the carbon out of it too.

Here's another thought experiment that explores a resource based economy
The Venus Project - The Redesign of a culture

As technoman pointed out, the dimensions of this are complex. We require a network of people in finance, politics, and engineering and business development to generate scalable business models and opportunities.

So many people are grapping with some of these concepts and asking "What can I do to ... " save energy? find a green job? invest my time / money , etc. For those considering a job change, now is the time. I made my change today, this is my last day working for a financial services company. I'll be building software for the "smart grid" to help deal with the challenges of distributed power generation. This is only one part of the solution.

What part do you want to work on ?

Real Estate is down .. Stock market is down .. Credit is going away .. Oil is going down .. Dollar going up .. This spells out one thing: deflation.

Cash is just useless wads of paper....it has no real value.

Useless wads or not I could use a little more. I'm outa super glue right now. research has all but come to a stop.

I have seen hundreds of little things like this out there. The problem is they will never make it to market. They are like the low cost fuel cell, always just around the corner, Just another year away.
Just some bull**** to sell to big oil.

Or even if they don't get sold they have greedy investors who would sell their mothers for a dime if they thought it would help themselves.

If anything is to get done about cheap energy production its going to be on a personal basis. Help your family help your friends and try to help those in need, but changing the world is pretty much a pipe dream. You'll never get outa the lab with anything that isn't design purely for personal production.

But with that in mind if enough people were to partake in cheap energy production then demand would go down on the dirty energy's and would have the same effect. You could save the world, devalue energy, lower the stock of energy producers thus taking the power away from them, and never even have to take credit for it. .

          Cheers

We should start worrying about finding ways to generate our own energy, not just because of an economic issue, but also as a way to save our planet.

Yes.It's the only way.Let each one person made device, use it and decide.Isn't that a true freedom ? I can't think that God would made energy so complicated, so cumbersome ,so deeply hidden below Earth surface... I would rather say that energy is here, around us, we only need to join few pieces together. Look at Sun, look around and ask proper questions ? Why there is wind, why there is light, why atmosphere is still here ?
