  • Unbelievable! My electric company raising rates 45% !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is this all gonna end???

My electric company in Ohio (American Electric Power) is raising their rates a WHOPPING 45% over the next three years. 15% the first year, 15% the second year, and 15% the third year. UN-FING-BELIEVABLE!

Shouldn't electricity be getting cheaper? I mean seriously, after the initial
investment in the dams and trucks and employees, shouldn't the operating
    expenses be minimal????

Will somebody PLEEEEASE invent something to put these SOB's out of business!

They have to make up for the 700 Billion losses that the Taxpayer has to come up with.
Why do you think they have been building concentration Camps and Prison Trains?
Its all been planned long ago, the **** hasn't hit the fan yet but its close.
Welcome to the Land of the Illuminati my friend.

        Cheaper

In a normal economy that is not interfered with by the Gov, things should always got cheaper. rising prices is only because of too much money printing by the fat pig of a govrenment that is riding our backs like a big blood sucking parasite. Without them we would all be rich and ownig spaceships by now.

          increase in rates

          Bobo,

          WOW!

It is more than 45% increase because after the first year, the increase is on an increased amount and not the original rate - I'm sure it isn't 15% on the original amount before the raises (after the 1st year). A raise on a raise.
          Sincerely,

            Hey bobo36us

I feel real bad for you man....that's just not fair

Like you said when will all this BS stop....I'm afraid the big fat pigs in the corpgov just don't know when to stop

Hopefully something like the 'Friction Steam Boiler' will prove to bear more fruit than all the other failed or pending OU/FE inventions that just aren't getting here fast enough. I myself am talking to people about the 'Friction Steam Boiler' to hopefully get enough friends or family interested to make at least one happen and heat at least one of our houses by this winter

            Regards,
            Paul

There is no justification in that, even if they were saying 15% goes into a renewable energy off the grid solution.

what i suggest you guys do.Get people to SIGN A LOCAL MANDATE. That you guys want a Tax break and endorsement for a NET METERING SOLAR PLAN FOR YOUR RESIDENTS.

All as it takes is, ONE 120 watt solar panel on every residents roof, and you all net meter, this takes the price right down as combined you all put back into the grid. It was quashed in New york.

              more info here.
              Solar panels at cost

SIGN [local] MANDATES! come on its easy!

                rate increases

                Hey bobo36us;

The only real solution is to take our future into our own hands. That's basically what this forum is about. In this case you should look into installing the new nano-tube technology solar panels. They are vastly more efficient than the old style panels. I was unaware they were on the market yet, but I met a man last week here in Orlando.Fl. who has them installed on his house. He is selling his excess power back to the electric company. He said his system was about $8,000 installed, would pay for itself in about 8 years at his current electric rate and usage. He lives alone, so a family would have even more usage and therefore pay for it even sooner. After the 8 years he will be making a profit every month.

I am meeting with him at his house a.s.a.p and will post more info. then. Maybe Aaron can post some in the meantime, I know he keeps up on current developments in this field.

                  Alternate energy yes!

Dependent on where you are. Solar wind hydro. Start planning and then implement a way to generate your own. Also communicate with your utility to do what you can to conserve and possibly sell back energy if you do decide to provide your own...

Some utility's do not allow certain arrangements. All have rules.

                  Good luck

Thats kinda high for rate hike. But...
I don't know where your at but on average in the US rates have been climbing 40 - 75%. They are phasing it in over 5 years varying from state to state.
This was part of a bill passed 03 (I forget the name of the legislation), deregulating on the federal level all power producing companies. Deregulation was suppossed to engourage them to start investing in cheaper cleaner sources. IUnstead most of them have exploited a small hole that allowed them to rase rates. HMMMM Imagine that! If your rates are going up and your in the states you can thank a republican administration and congress, state and local representitives.
I live just north of DC. Are power has gone up 145% over the last 2 years. Just recently they gave us a refund becuase they were charging a tax or somthing for 2 years on everybody that was just BS. They were pocketing the money and making it look likie the state was taxing.

Solutions are hard to come by, but If your in the states, go to your local welfare office and apply for energy assistance. If you really have to. If your names on the list they can't shut power off, and you usage gets chocked up to a loss. More people on the list the less profits they make. They can't shut you off.

And don't think of it as welfare, they foot that bill, think of it as economic retaliation. Also look into starting or joining a COOP. This is how you get the power to circumvent the rules and regulations set by the energy company.

Then find some way to generate for yourself. Solar are expensive but at least you know how much your power is going to cost over 20 years. Wood pellet boiler and generator also work well and are cheap solutions in the interum. Hell in some state the natural gas is so cheap you can generate power via backup generator for far less than they sell the power to you.

                    Lots of solutions

                    Best of luck
                    Matt

mine went up 20% last month

but I'm sending my Notice of Intent and Claim of Right to the the Queen soon as I am sick of paying tax as well so that will help balance the cost.

but of course you could always send them the bill back as payment for the bill

                          Write the PUCO and COMPLAIN!!

As a former Buckeye i know what they are pulling, and they always get away with it. You should write the public utilities commission of Ohio: They are crooked basdids all the way but every complaint makes them a little more worried they may get caught taking bribes some day. Also, send letters to the editor of your local newspaper complaining. They hate that Mention to them :

"Why is it that Ohioans are STILL paying for the capitalization of the nuclear power plants built in the '70's and '80's... When those specific rate hikes to pay for PRIVATE power plants expired and were never removed after the allotted time! They thought everyone would just forget about them

Ohio conventional power plants all use COAL not OIL.... Coal is still relatively cheap. They got no reason to raise rates... And yer right... Every year they should write down more of the infrastructure cost as a diminishing overhead factor but they do not. Oh, they whine about having to maintain the grid... Yes, and without that grid they wouldn't make their huge profits...

Why yer at it ask them why they never sanctioned First Energy (formerly C.E.I.) for cheating on the welds at two nuclear power plants: Perry in Perry OH, and Davis Besse in Toledo, OH. They got caught, and U.S. NRC inspectors got caught looking the other way and taking bribes to ignore substandard welds!! The prime contractors were run by the Pittsburgh mafia.... This is proven fact and has been testified before to in Congress. The person who tried to break the suppression in the media and get it all out in the open, Dennis Kucinich, had a mafia hit put out on him (this was also testified to in Congress... Wonder why you never heard any of this before??) That is specifically why Perry #2 never got an operating license (many of the suspect Stainless welds are buried under 20 feet of reinforced concrete).... Meanwhile the public had to GIVE them the 3 billion to build the damn things in the first place (...but the public never got any of the profits from them)!

When it comes to electric utilities, people just seem to lie down and take it for some reason: They need to realize that it is BY FAR the highest "tax" they pay; and the most regressive (considering that we pay about 300% over true cost.. proven by the rates that not-for-profit city-owned utilities charge). And that there is really no reason for it: If the public got mad, the ridiculous gouging would have to end. All it will take is to open their dirty dealings at the State Utilities Commissions for everyone to see. but that is not easy: The private utilities always get the news that is damaging to them suppressed. So the way to beat that is to publicize it all on the Internet and do a grass roots campaign to strip them of their power.... Since they have proved they cannot be trusted, they deserve to have their business taken from them and nationalized for the public good. The fact is that power utility companies are and always have been the "bluest" of the Blue Chip stocks... That is because they ALWAYS turn a huge profit, no matter what. And the major reason for this is that they have corrupted every government official that they ever deal with.

Yup true, that money or any could be invested to ONE , 120 solar panel for a net metering scheme. We are going to make up a document for all ASAP showing the financial benefits and out lay.
