When going to gyms got popular a long time ago, I always wondered why the gyms didn't try to harness the energy that all their members were expending, lol.

Yes, Jessica, that's a good question, and one that I have also thought about many times. Instead of charging people $50 or $100 a month to use the gym, why not allow free or low-cost membership to all, and harness the power that is produced? Competitions could even be held to see which person, or group of persons, could produce the highest kwh output, making it into a regular and popular event. Perhaps construct a giant hamster cage type of treadmill, with proper safeguards of course, that could be used by several people at once. The power produced could be used to not only provide heat, hot water, and electricity to the facility, but the surplus could be sold to the electric company, thus making money for the owner. The possibilities are limited only by one's imagination, determination, and bank account. If the last of these is an obstacle, them forming an exercise co-op could make it possible.

The owners getting the money from the excess power pumped into the grid might be able to offer people a small % of that for coming in and exercising. Get paid for working out! Just a fun idea.

Equipment use for free is a big enough plus all by itself for sure.

Dam after being at the gym for over 10 years, i could of powered half the city by now

Ill ask the guys at the gym how much pounds and inches they move and lift per week, i bet the numbers are going to really be amazing. You guys know that that's an idea with allot of potential right? Ask the members to do it for a green initiative too. I could see the Rick/J/Aaron GYM bike, it comes ALREADY manufactured with a PM generator inside the exercise bike for the ANTIQUER GYM's

Out of all the work we do, it is not all accounted for in calories of food we ingest. Light, atmospheric gases, etc... they all contribute to our bio potential for work.
