IPCC Findings Reviewed and New US Climate Bill
Hi folks,
Here is a new article from the BBC about the new InterAcademy Council convening to review the IPCC, in the wake of its admitted errors and PR debacle.
BBC News - Review of IPCC workings set to open
Also, here are two more articles on Senator John Kerry's new Climate Change bill. Remarkably, it RELAXES rules on off-shore drilling! The first one is a news item; the second one is an analysis.

Nice find Peter,
"Subsequently, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon asked the InterAcademy Council to run the review. The council is independent of the UN, and has the capacity to select from among the world's top academics. "
Ordered by the UN, but apparently independent.
Can we up front put our faith in the review panel, or do we need to look at how strong they dare slay their "academic" colleagues' work, and subsequently th UN's workings themselves?

Just figure, why it needs Peoples like Lord Monckton to tell, that noone knows exactly, what Global Warming or cooling cause,
like a lot others Scientist know.
How comes, that a Person like Bankimoon dont knows that,
it is his Business and his damn Job to know about it.
Seems more like, he wanna stick his Nose into things, what are actually not his Business anymore.
About the Glacier melting, well, Himalaya is a good Example to use,
but, i live beside the Alps, and there been huge Glaciers, what did go far into the Area, and they are not only glued to the Mountains.
There are longe ranges, wide Areas and much Tracks where you see, that there been Glaciers,
and they are gone, but not over 100 or 200 Years, or 20 Years,
over a Time from thousand Years.
So how can someone expect, that the Glaciers still stay as they are,
and blame a constructed Global Warming for the Cause, when they melt.
And surely will a small Pice of Ice melt faster then a bigger do.
Well actually not allways, but you think the smaller Pice melt faster,
because it decrease faster.Theorizer are like High Voltage. A lot hot Air with no Power behind but they are the dead of applied Work and Ideas.

UN Picks New Climate Change Chief
Hi Folks,
Here is a new article at the BBC about the UN replacing the head of their Climate Convention process.
BBC News - UN picks new climate change chief
The first order of business for the new leader will be to restore confidence in the UN and its Climate Negotiating process.

They call it hazard reduction. Tell that to the Climate Change camp.
National Parks is a Federal Department. Aren't we lucky there isn't a carbon tax or we would be paying for it.
The carbon credits I believe to be a laughable and very expensive nonsense. Don't you just love it when some politician looking for some means to try and balance the books comes up with a new "Green" tax which makes it all wonderfully politically correct. Indeed socially negative not to enjoy paying. Guess who will be several hundred times more punitively punished by these taxes? The affluent members of society? - I don't think so!

Ten Myths on Climate Change
LAYING TEN GLOBAL WARMING MYTHS
Myth 1 Average global temperature (AGT) has increased over the last few years.
Fact 1 Within error bounds, AGT has not increased since 1995 and has declined since 2002, despite an increase in atmospheric CO2 of 8% since 1995.
Myth 2 During the late 20th Century, AGT increased at a dangerously fast rate and reached an unprecedented magnitude.
Facts 2 The late 20th Century AGT rise was at a rate of 1-20 C/century, which lies well within natural rates of climate change for the last 10,000 yr. AGT has been several degrees warmer than today many times in the recent geological past.
Myth 3 AGT was relatively unchanging in pre-industrial times, has sky-rocketed since 1900, and will increase by several degrees more over the next 100 years (the Mann, Bradley & Hughes "hockey stick" curve and its computer extrapolation).
Facts 3 The Mann et al. curve has been exposed as a statistical contrivance. There is no convincing evidence that past climate was unchanging, nor that 20th century changes in AGT were unusual, nor that dangerous human warming is underway.
Myth 4 Computer models predict that AGT will increase by up to 60 C over the next 100 years.
Facts 4 Deterministic computer models do. Other equally valid (empirical) computer models predict cooling.
Myth 5 Warming of more than 20 C will have catastrophic effects on ecosystems and mankind alike.
Facts 5 A 20 C change would be well within previous natural bounds. Ecosystems have been adapting to such changes since time immemorial. The result is the process that we call evolution. Mankind can and does adapt to all climate extremes.
Myth 6 Further human addition of CO2 to the atmosphere will cause dangerous warming, and is generally harmful.
Facts 6 No human-caused warming can yet be detected that is distinct from natural system variation and noise. Any additional human-caused warming which occurs will probably amount to less than 10 C. Atmospheric CO2 is a beneficial fertilizer for plants, including especially cereal crops, and also aids efficient evapo-transpiration.
Myth 7 Changes in solar activity cannot explain recent changes in AGT.
Facts 7 The sun's output varies in several ways on many time scales (including the 11-, 22 and 80-year solar cycles), with concomitant effects on Earth's climate. While changes in visible radiation are small, changes in particle flux and magnetic field are known to exercise a strong climatic effect. More than 50% of the 0.80 C rise in AGT observed during the 20th century can be attributed to solar change.
Myth 8 Unprecedented melting of ice is taking place in both the north and south polar regions.
Facts 8 Both the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets are growing in thickness and cooling at their summit. Sea ice around Antarctica attained a record area in 2007. Temperatures in the Arctic region are just now achieving the levels of natural warmth experienced during the early 1940s, and the region was warmer still (sea-ice free) during earlier times.
Myth 9 Human-caused global warming is causing dangerous global sea-level (SL) rise.
Facts 9 SL change differs from time to time and place to place; between 1955 and 1996, for example, SL at Tuvalu fell by 105 mm (2.5 mm/yr). Global average SL is a statistical measure of no value for environmental planning purposes. A global average SL rise of 1-2 mm/yr occurred naturally over the last 150 years, and shows no sign of human-influenced increase.
Myth 10 The late 20th Century increase in AGT caused an increase in the number of severe storms (cyclones), or in storm intensity.
Facts 10 Meteorological experts are agreed that no increase in storms has occurred beyond that associated with natural variation of the climate system.

Pacific Islands NOT Sinking
Hi Folks,
Here is a link to a BBC article that sites a new study that shows that Islands in the South Pacific, including Tuvalu, Kiribati, and Micronesia are neither sinking nor shrinking, and have been stable for the last 60 years! Some of the islands are actually growing.

BP helped write the Kerry-Lieberman climate bill
This news was reported by Cybercast News Service (CNS). The Cybercast News Service was launched on June 16, 1998 as a news source for individuals, news organizations and broadcasters who put a higher premium on balance than spin and seek news that’s ignored or under-reported as a result of media bias by omission.
Congress is debating a compromise global warming bill — a watered-down version of earlier climate change bills — introduced in May by Kerry and Lieberman after the oil rig explosion in April. It would tax businesses for carbon emissions and raise the cost of fuel for American consumers, CNS News reports.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell charges that the energy company BP helped craft the cap-and-trade bill proposed by Democratic Sens. John Kerry and Joe Lieberman. “The problem for Democrats is that debating the Democrat cap-and-trade bill might not fit neatly into the White House messaging plan since it’s been widely reported that a major part, a major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was essentially written by BP,” the Kentucky Republican said on the Senate floor on Wednesday, referring to the company responsible for the massive and ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
“An administration that seems to spend most of its time coming up with new ways to show how angry it is at BP is pushing a proposal that BP actually helped write,” said McConnell. “I can’t understand it, and I don’t think the American people will understand why it makes sense to respond to the BP oil spill by imposing a gas-tax increase on the American people that was advocated by BP.”"Seek wisdom by keeping an open mind to alternative realities, questioning authority, and searching for truth. Only then, when you see or hear something that has 'the ring of truth' to it, will it be as if a veil has been lifted, and suddenly you will begin to hear and see far more clearly than ever before." - Rickoff

Climate panel chief welcomes climate debate
Hi Folks,
Here is the latest spin from the Head of the IPCC. Supposedly, he's now interested in "the development of a vigorous debate" on climate science.

Thanks for all these contributions guys. i wonder if the themes at the debate should be now who and what have financial ties (thats all it comes down to IMO) to the programs. AND TO FORBID THIS.
Senator John Kerry already endorses off shore drilling ($$$$$), you can be all the others like Gore have a big financial stake, cut out the profit capacity and you will get REAL climate science. I bet you all 10 beers i am right .
