When asked about the fact that there has been no statistically significant global warming for the past 15 years, Pachauri became evasive. Even Phil Jones, a climatologist at the University of East Anglia and a prominent global warming alarmist, admitted this fact in the wake of Climategate.

A year after Climategate, however, the IPCC's Pachauri still refuses to face reality and clings to the deeply flawed 4th Assessment Report, which has been completely discredited over the past year after it was revealed that many of its supposedly "peer-reviewed sources" were actually based on activist reports and interviews with hikers.

"This interview revealed that the IPCC chair is ignorant of some very basic facts about global warming," said CFACT's Executive Director, Craig Rucker. "This is particularly striking in light of all the criticism being poured on the IPCC by scientists and independent review panels for its sloppy handling of key data and vital information."

Most tellingly, while Pachauri agreed that global carbon dioxide emissions have been increasing for the last 15 years, he was at a loss to say how much global temperatures had increased during that same time. That seems like a pretty basic piece of information for the head of the UN's climate panel to know, but Pachauri has revealed his ignorance once again.

I believe there is no debate as to the fact that we are making our world dirtier and dirtier and it gets worse every year. Does any of that make the world warmer or colder? Let's say it goes either way...that means we need to still solve the pollution problem no matter what the impact is on global temperature. Even if the temperature stays the same for the next million years, CLEAN is desirable compared to dirty....

...So, regardless of cause of climate change...of whatever that change happens to be...clean, independent, renewable energy technologies....with an awakened consciousness that can appreciate them...is what we need for a sustainable future....cold or hot...we need them and that is what we are moving towards.

The language needs to change from global warming to economic and health freedom.

I've avoided pitching into the climate debate here. I'm a bit of a greeny. You can't live a stone's throw from two of the most sensitive, bountiful and beautiful ecosystems on the planet without caring about your environment a bit more than someone who, say, lives in a condo in the middle of a city. The environment matters to me because it's my backyard, my playground, my muse. Then there's my respect for the aboriginal view of "the land" as a living ancestor. Yeah, I care about my environment, sue me.

A lot of the debate seems to be deeply polarised, either you're a greeny new world order lovin' climate change believer who wants population reduction at any price and a carbon tax to fund the global elite, or you're a full speed ahead and damn the atmosphere redneck global warming debunker. Me, as my interest in music may hint, I like the idea of harmony. I think a massive, technologically advanced human population can live in harmony with a cleaner, more beautiful natural environment, without making sacrifices to the comforts we've come to expect here in the first world, and that's why I don't want to have to pick a side. I don't see why I should have to, I don't see why respect for the environment and the pursuit of technological and cultural advancement have to be mutually exclusive goals.

I think the real problem, and the source of much of the polarity, comes from people with a vested interest in preserving the status quo for profit, or just as bad, trying to wring academic funding out of the left to fund university fatcats. How about the idea of acting in a responsible, cautious matter and preserving the planet because we only have one, and erring on the side of caution simply because it's the most prudent and wise course?

I don't want to get sucked into this climate change debate, I want to be a part of the solution that makes the entire debate obsolete. Beyond that, I don't feel a need to discuss my position here or anywhere else. Both sides can get along, we just need to figure out how. I do however want to thank aaron for his post, and for helping me understand you can choose to see merit in both sides of an argument around here without treading on too many toes.

Hi noises, i think this thread is the only real sense in the issue, i mean Peter has stated about real climate science being policed and Aaron has mentioned the issues needs to be about health freedom.

Whilst other "scientist" may make a noise about the climate science accuracy that's been shoved down our throat for all these new taxes- Isn't it ironic,that Peter , Aaron and others here in this thread can tell you about REAL climate science with references, AND tell you about SOLUTIONS[related health solutions to pollution ], like saving on your home energy and other FE RESEARCH devices. No other "scientist" can talk about the issue with the same caliber of RELATIVE subject matter.

If you look at it, this thread is far from a debate,i think its the only clarity in the whole issue on the net.

A last minute compromise deal has been reached at the UN Climate Summit meeting in Cancun, Mexico. I'm sure we will learn more as the text of the agreement is published, but here is the first report.

No warming evident in Minnesota

I just heard on the radio that Minnesota has had 10 back-to-back days of snow, and that the situation is so bad that city and state snow plows were not allowed to go out because it was so dangerous. That is unusual for a state that is used to getting large snow storms. Home Depot reported that they sold more than $34,000 worth of snow blowers in just one hour - an all time sales record for them. With the storm moving eastward, it looks like several more states will be in the path and get similar accumulations. Will this be another "in like a lion - out like a lamb" winter, or will it be a long, hard winter with record snowfall amounts? Only time will tell.

Seems for me,they do stick at last at the Argument

Climate Change, but to help other Nations.

I would say, the normal way to help Developing Countrys
is to look, which Country it is, what the Problems there are,
this can even be made in agreement with other Countrys,
and not again Fonds, where some Anonymous cant take or get Money from it.
I bet, when someone can follow the Track from Climate Gate Scam,
you can identify a part of the Ruling Class and some of their Helpers.

Guys its been raining here and in Sydney for nearly 2weeks on and off, still raining today,STRANGE weather this time of year for spring, has some one got their finger on the HAARP button?

Yeah i'm in central Queensland, rain rain rain, but it's wierd rain not storms like usual just, rain rain rain. The scrub is growing up around the animals, I will be living in a jungle if I don't do some serious vegitation control here.

I said it before and i'll say it again, the carbon tax or whatever else people would like to call it, is a distraction to draw our attention away from more important pollution issues, and to line the pockets of the rich, just think about it these money grubbers don't do anything unless they can make money from it.

My first question is what about the toxic pollutions, lets not forget heavy metals and extremely toxic pollution here, it's much more of a problem than a bit of CO2. Not to mention all the pharma's in the water.

Will somebody that is a proponant for man made global warming, please tell me how some money will remove carbon from the atmosphere ?

I don't understand that, and if anyone thinks that a tax on carbon will reduce the carbon output from big business they are fooling themseves in my opinion.

They will just pass the cost on to the consumer. Which will have the effect of further burdoning the average consumer and thus the average consumer will care less about pollution because thier cost of living will go up because of it and therefore they will need to work longer to meet the cost's of living, when times get tougher people care less for the environment.

As well as that there would be people who say I can pollute because I paid the carbon tax. There should not be a price for our home planet. Money cannot buy us another one, MONEY has no part in the solution to pollution, infact less is more.

The creation of vast wealth is what is ruining the planet, why would we look to the very people who are causing the problem through greed, to solve that problem with more money. It dosen't make sense, it is the making of money that is causing all the problems. It stands to reason that to reverse the problem, the incentive to create huge money making machines (corp.) with no conciencse should be reduced.

Seriously, Oprah coming to Australia is news everyday, the distractions for the Sheeple are very basic. It is pathetic. I am ashamed to be a human.
