Are we due for a mini-ice-age or are we due for the real thing?
The way I see it, it is a bit more than the last mini ice age in the 1850's (or thereabout).
We are also long overdue for a magnetic pole reversal and I think those two are linked.
If my interpretation is correct, the sun may stop shining for a few days during such a reversal which will cause a very severe temperature drop (as you can imagine). Then the unevenly distributed mass of ice may cause a shift of the entire earth crust relative to its rotational axis.
These things may have happened before.

Oh well, just keep a pair of extra socks handy.

It showed that there were many spots around the world, mostly over the oceans, where the magnetic field was already reversed. As those spots get closer to each other, they merge and obviously become bigger. Apparently, this is how it happens all over the world when larger areas merge and suddenly, the whole thing is reversed. And the speed of these merging incidents happen more often faster and faster as time goes on.

About the spots. Apparently the magnetic field is weakening the most over the western hemisphere and South Atlantic. With a stronger magnetic field at a point within the Indian Ocean.

Compare the solar system to our galaxy and imagine it has a positive upper sphere, a negative lower sphere and a neutral plane between them. Most of the stars, including our sun is near this neutral plane. Currently our sun is slightly above this plane in the positive half.
This causes the sun to receive positive energy (electricity).
When you see a galaxy from the side, you can see a black (neutral) line through the middle.
Scientists believe this to be caused by an accumulation of dust and small rocks which is blocking our view. My theory is that on this neutral line stars do not receive energy and so they do not shine.
As said, our solar system looks much the same, only on a smaller scale.
The sun is the focal point of a galactic energy stream, which is currently positive.
In the 'neutral plane (or near it) the planets circle the sun. Sometimes in the northern half and sometimes in the southern half.
It is known that the sun (and our solar system) too spends time in the galactic upper (positive) sphere and in the lower (negative) sphere, meaning that the sun changes sign every 12000 year or so. And you can not change sign without going through zero, so for a moment the sun would not shine...
This change of sign would also cause a magnetic reversal in the Earth and so all things are linked together.
NASA says the next passage from N to S is many 100's years away, but hey, who trusts NASA these days after all the BS they have launched...

Think about that... in the near future there will be more toxic plastic degrading in our oceans than fish in the sea. To destroy capitalism...Oh my.

However what is your personal flavor of capitalism?, is it a private owners right to seek profit outside the state?. I can see why so many people like capitalism because it's a way of saying you never really have to put on your grown up pants.

According to your kind of capitalism you can sell arms to others and never have to worry how many people they kill. You can sell plastic rather than paper and it never bothers your conscience that at some point in the future trillions of tons of it may turn our oceans toxic. Our children looking over the oceans of murky flotsam devoid of life the capitalists mine for profit...and business is good.

The irony here... the true irony is at some point in the future every action must have it's reaction. So you see it is not so much about capitalism nor freedom it is about a near complete lack of accountability that so many cherish under the guise of capitalism. I can think of no other system where supposedly grown men are allowed to act like juveniles with no real accountability.

It is a peculiar thing that I know many men and they tell me they are responsible adults. Yet the moment something does not serve their purpose they seem to have no problem lying through their teeth. You see real men are not judged by taking the easy path but the hard one because that is what defines a man. Real men have no reason to lie like children often do.

I have to wonder which economic development model she is talking about?. Is it the model where corporations have been proven to routinely hold back technology to increase profits?. Is it the model where nothing really changes because in a purely capitalist system based on monopolies change implies competition and competition is inherently unprofitable?. The irony here is that you already know the supposed enemy who are going to destroy everything you know...our children.

Maybe I am dense, it is a possibility, however when I read the article in it's entirety I'm not sure I understand your point.

It would seem a man, George Soros, gave millions of dollars to Al Gore to promote action of global warming. Al Gore as we know is trying to fight climate change, pollution, stupidity etc. and there is mention of a youth climate change group which is cool.

I'm not sure I see a problem here... unless of course it is the issue that George Soros has Liberal ties as stated in the article?. At which point I would ask, should we judge people based on affiliations and beliefs when the action would seem to be sincere?. For instance if I was hypothetically a communist pig yet I wanted to give you ten million dollars to pursue free energy which could benefit everyone is this a problem?. Does my circumstance, belief, affiliations, friends or geography somehow discount the sincerity of my actions?.

That is an interesting response and highlights our cultural differences. Generally speaking here in Canada we like to "use our words" to express our opinions and hopefully justify them.

My guess is you seem to be implying that because I have requested addition information concerning the basis of an opinion that I am somehow mental?.

On a side note I have noticed these quirks relating to American culture and one could call it Trumpism. As if to say, here is a link or a picture or a one liner... now guess what I'm thinking or trying to say. Sorry you dropped in with such an ignorant point of view. Here is what this thread is about. It's about REAL CLIMATE SCIENCE and the real data about the fact that the climate on THIS PLANET has never been stable and has ALWAYS been changing, and has nothing to do with CO2. Here's a graph of the temperature swings since about 1850 along with CO2 data:



On the right side of this graph, you can clearly see that temperature rises stalled about 1998 while CO2 continued to climb. Here is a close-up of the last 18 years:



So, this is the factual data that Rickoff is referring to that seems to have caused you so much grief!
