Hey they make publicity on TV's and Newspaper, but only is lobby, each year deforestation is growing up. The main cause is poorness, incredible, but this countries are richest on the world (natural resourcers).

Now, governements waste many millions dollars to protect the jungles and paramounts, but this money no go to people that need help to survive (corruption), our middle class pay high taxes ( our tax is 16% in Colombia for example), OUR BIG PROBLEM IS CORRUPTION.

Sorry but currently our governements is no having success to stop deforestation.

Look oil prices is getting down, on USA gas is getting down, but in Colombia no no no. GAS prices is high and governent no has plans to getting down, when this country no need import oil.... This is corruption, there is no anothers countries on this planet with politic class more corrupt that ours.

In Brazil governement is developing bio fuels production, but IS HIGHLY CONTROLLED, IF PRODUCE YOURSELF YOUR OWN BIOFUEL IS ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL IF YOU LIVING IN BRAZIL AND YOU'RE POOR BUT HAS SOME LANDS TO PRODUCE BIOFUELD AND YOUR SELL THIS BIOFUEL IS ILLEGAL, BECAUSE YOUR NEED MANY PERMISSIONS AND LICENCES, you need money to get them, many money, governement grant this licences to finger. In Brazil there are many littlet producers, producing biofuel illegally, but remember that is possible to know who usigng biofuel by smell on trucks on cars with diesel tech.

Hemp, is illegal too, the war in Colombia is by drugs, this includes, Cocaine, Marihuana (Cannabis), Heroin (Amapola) and others, this wars is to blood and fire, Uniterd States is helping (Plan Colombia) to destroy drugs producers, IT IS NO POSSIBLE PRODUCE ANY WAY, THERE IS NO LICENCE POSSIBLE NO NO NO.

Now Colombia is producing some Ethanol from the sugar, but only to oxigenate the gas, and save petroleum refined, and export more, this benefits is only for big corporation, the ethanol production, the petroleum saved and exportation, all all the cake is for big corps and governement.

On paramounts many families need to use Firewood for cooking and getting warm, from the trees; this is getting down the fresh water reservoir. Meanwhile the country is rich on natural gas and petroleum many people is living in extreme poorness and Inequality.

Root of the many problems is that people poor has no lands, in Colombia is the mother on Inequality in this sense, if you reclaim for this, "you're terrorist, communist son of the Devil", Brazil too, there is a movement called "Los sin tierra".
