A bit of success
I finally got a bit of time tonight to play around with my new coils. Here is a picture of my setup. The primary is on the right, long thin one wire tesla type coil with ends connected to nothing, with a pickup coil on the left that is tuned the same as the primary. All the black tape was to just keep the wire in order, it started to get messy fast without it.
Here is a shot showing the input light on the right fully extinguished and the LED which is connected to the pickup coil lit up.
Here is a shot of the primary coil up close with the taps in it. The pickup is the same exact thing.
As of now I can not get the LED any brighter. But of course I only put in a few hours tonight. I had the main frequency selector potentiometer on my generator go out, and had to fix it..
I believe my primary and pickup are going to need more wire, or a different wind.. I have a few ideas.
This is really cool to study. Moving the pickup coil around changes it, you can tell where the nodes are along the long coil. At least I think I was seeing it.. lol.. I have a bit of a cold, maybe I was imagining things.
Anyhoo, I'm going to try and keep hammering on this. But as luck would have it, the nice instructors at school loaded us down with school work for Easter break, so I won't be getting the lab time that I wanted.
Hopefully I'll have more to report soon.
