  • Why not charge source for pulsed current

I was just wondering why on earth do we keep on using power supplies that require a dipole. Admittingly we want a dipole to run devices in our circuit but we dont need a dipole to power the circuit.
We have all seen the exeriment when they bring an electric field source clost to two spheres then split them apart. and as long as they split, together they are a dipole. Why couldnt you between the two spheres have a cable with a relay in the middle. Create another similar cable arrangement with a collector in it. So you would close the relay which is seperating the two spheres and open the relay on which the collector is on. The charges are now seperated on the two spheres. Open the relay between the two. Now close the relay in which the collector is on. Now just repeat the process. If you had a charge source that was a non conductor it should work pretty well. Just depend how much you collect and the cost of switching i guess.
It just seems crazy using dipole power supplies when you only need the dipole part for the circuit not as a means of developing the electricity.
