I dont believe in god, but dont they say christ died for our sins? Wasnt his death meant to save us all? If so, thats something to celebrate.

Also, should parents not tell kids about the tooth fairy? You think that would corrupt their moral system? lol.
It means much less to me, what any holiday originally meant as compared to what it means today.

Christmas inspires good people to do good things. As long as it stays that way, it has MY support.

Hi folks, Hi jdodson, very wise words.
Indeed, you are speaking along the lines of the NOW moment, which is all that is actually real.
There is something about this time of year or occasion that has great meaning.
With all the words and symbolism that can mean different things to different people.
The presents we may receive, may be a forgotten metaphor, for the one 'presence' within all there is.
Also, the goodness that appears, may be this presence within, shining its neutrality, without conditions in the moment.
True love has no fear of the past or the future.
Its only with the heart that one can see clearly, what's essential, is invisible to the eye.

Our side yard today after the ice storm

I took this photo in our side yard Christmas morning. The temperature outside was zero at the time. The ice storm lasted more than 48 hours, and the ice became so heavy on branches that many trees leaned over to the ground, as shown above, or snapped from the weight. The icy branches looked very pretty with the sunlight glistening upon them, and a walk out through my 20 acre woodlot was like walking in a winter wonderland. Naturally, with so many trees leaning or falling during the storm, this also caused a lot of chaos with the electric grid, and we lost power twice here, once for 2 hours and then another 12 hour stretch. We knew the storm was coming, though, and were prepared for it, so we had heat, lighting, food, and water. Many others in Maine weren't ready, and had to go to shelters set up in school gymnasiums and armories to survive the zero degree weather last night.

Best wishes to everyone for a new year that brings all the things that you hope for.

                Merry Christmas 2014!

I hope that all of you were successful in finding a suitable yule shrub to set up and decorate in your home in time for a Christmas celebration. Here's a link to a short video showing me out in my back woods, here in Maine, on a mission to bring home our tree.

Best Christmas wishes to all, and may the New Year bring all that you hope for.

                  GodBless

No Matter the day of the year I say GOD Bless you. To do that on just one day is a start, but is much better if this is the way we live inside everyday.

May God Bless and help you and your family to understand that every day is a wonderful time to show kindness to your family and friends.

Rejoice because we only get a certain number of days.

I find it odd how so many non Christians celebrate Christmas. I have nothing
against Christmas as such but I just don't understand why people who are not
practicing Christians and people who are not even religious celebrate Christmas.

I participate due to family pressure but I always voice my dismay at why the
people around me that are not even religious celebrate Christmas and Easter as
well for that matter. It's illogical and kind of sacrilegious for non Christians to
celebrate Christmas. I'm not a Christian and that's how I feel about it. It's kinda
like we all may as well celebrate every religious event no matter if we are
                      religious or not.

Happy and safe holiday period to all.

                        rather a DAFT statement.

                        1. getting gifts

                        2. getting time off work

                        3. getting with relatives etc etc.

                        4. celebrating / BS / etc etc etc

there are a 1000+ reasons why.

                          FarmHandMan

That's an easy one when you understand that Dec 25 has nothing to do with Christ or Christianity other than people (THE POPE) made DEC 25th (The Sun God's birthday) into the mother and baby manger/nativity bologna

Still like everyday it is a wonderful time of forgiveness and family wars

Life is what we make it but I agree with you FarmHandMan that it is odd that all the nations of the world celebrate it like it has some kind of special significance but no body knows what it is.

All of the Xmas symbols/trappings/traditions originated from the Celtic peoples. Xmas was banned till 1820 in AMERICA this lady is from the UK and is very pleasant to listen to as she recounts the history of XMAS.

                          May God Bless you FarmHandMan

                            Israeli XMAS

Listen as this young man living in the region explains ISRAELI thought concerning any opposition. He says the HOLY LAND is where the NWO wants to control the world from. During this time Israeli forces are bombing GAZA while blaming the air fire on their enemies.

Merry Christmas! May God bless each and every one of you.

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
