  • Making Easy Pancakes

I just wanted to share a tip for making fine wire pancake coils and have a place for any others to post easier/different/better ways of making them. I thought of this while reading some of the other posts which seem to be moving toward pancake coils from the spools.

-Get a roll of tape. If using insulated wire it shouldn't make much difference what kind but stretch might be a good quality
-Cut said roll lengthwise using box knife, razor, sharp PVC cutter, etc. This should give multiple rolls of tape to defray cost. Be cautious please, components are easier to replace than fingers. Pay attention to width of wire to be used and keep rolls at least twice width.
-Lay wire on adhesive as you roll the coil, or multiple wires on multiple rolls, with ends protruding as needed for circuit.

The tape should add stability to the coil and help to keep the conductor centered during creation process. It should add a measure of additional control for the creation of finer gauge wire coils.

Again, I would be glad to see input on this method or suggestions for making large wire coils.

    -Thanks

      Tape

Or use contact adhesive on a board/compact disk. As the wire is wound on, it will be less likely to lift up..

      :-)
Atoms move for free. It's all about resonance and phase. Make the circuit open and build a generator.

Thanks for the great links and ideas. I think I'll try the double sided tape and cds myself.
