How many Pulses can be attained in 1 second?

Hi Everyone,


I have this nagging question that I'm not really sure what the answer is but would like some feedback on.How many Pulses or hz can be attained in 1 second of time?.Surely there must be some sort of limit because theres only so much sh^* you can squeeze in a 5 pound bag .All kidding aside I'D like to hear anyone's input on the subject.Thx for any input

My thoughts...... as many as your devices can supply. The limiting factor being your switching mechansim usually. Then its somewhat dependant on your inductor.

Could be wrong....been that plenty of times.

I agreen with Ren. Maximum Frequency is dependant on two variables. The coil and the switching mechanism. The coil has to have time to energize and de-energize. Like Ren said your transistors are likely to be the limiting factor. Each one is rated for so many Hz. That will indicate the maximum number of pulses you can get provided it is not above your coil's capabilities.

Patent #3781601 discloses a generator which produces up to 10 exp. 23 Hz per second. This is the highest I'm aware of. However, much higher frequencies occur in Nature, so it's only a matter of time . . .

Thx for all the responses guys as I'm doing a little reading up on Hertz and also Planck at the moment but have to call it a night soon because of work in the morning

It all depends on the medium through which you are sending the pulse and what you are using for generating that pulse. To best of science knowlege - at present - the highest possible frequency is about 1,000,000,000,000 GHz; (10 Hz with 20 zeros) which is the frequency of High Gamma rays. These are obtained from breaking off neutrons from heavy metals - i.e. Gold and Lead.

If you are talking of copper wire, the highest frequency you can reach in the theoretical perfect model is around 10,000 GHz. After that you will need to depart from solids and start using gas/air/electrons. There seems to be one exception now with a bismuth crystal that seems to allow faster movement of electrons through the crystal than through air.

Lastly, there are also a few people that believe there are higher frequencies; but not yet defined - these are the frequencies in the realm of Magnetism.

Other than this the answer is: "The highest frequency you can achieve is the same as the lowest frequency of electrons in the outer shell of the slowest molecules in your material." Kind of the same as the strength of a chain is measured in the strenght of its weakest link.

Yes, if you are talking pure electrical power to apply to something,
power of motion.

But in general, for the universe and all matter;
it is frequency rather than Amp. Al matter - mineral and biological
is influenced by frequency.
