  • Muffin Fans

    Hi everyone,

What is the largest cfm (cubic feet per minute) muffin fan that you have found? AC 110V is preferrable.... DC could work too.

Has anyone seen a muffin fan style fan with metal blades to have more of a flywheel effect or just plastic?

I'm wanting a 1500cfm muffin fan but am having a hard time finding one this big...do they make them this big?
    Sincerely,
    Aaron Murakami

    Muffin fans.

    Hi Aaron,

Metal blades muffin fans used for wood stove are common in Canada. They are not very big, I have one that is around 4" in diameter.

Some are listed near the bottom of page on this site:

    Take care,

    Michel

    Edit:

I also have 2 6" all metal construction muffin fans in my hydroponic box. Check for industrial exhaust fans, they are big and I've seen muffin design in the past.

      Muffin Fans

      Hey Aaron,
The biggest axial fans I've seen or used were from Graingers -
      Grainger Industrial Supply

      model # 3VU71
      HVACR > Fans > Axial Fans > Fan,Axial,665 CFM,115v : Grainger Industrial Supply
Round AC Axial Fan, Air Flow 665 CFM, Voltage Rating @ 50/60 Hz 115, Diameter 10 Inches, Depth 3 1/2 Inches, Current Rating 0.23 Amp, Power Rating 23 Watts, Fan Speed 1600 RPM, Sound Level 52 dBA, Maximum Ambient Temperature 176 Degrees F, Thermally Protected PSC Motor, Insulation Class B, Ball Bearings

      model # 4C688 (or) # 4WT44
Round AC Axial Fan, Air Flow 665 CFM, Voltage Rating 115 Volts, Speed 1600 RPM, Current Rating 0.36 Amp, Bearing Ball, Power Rating 23 Watts, Speech Interference Level 52 dB, Diameter 10 Inches, Depth 3 1/2 Inches, Cast Aluminum Housing, Maximum Temperature 145 Degrees Fahrenheit

These work good but "really" noisy !!!

        whole home fan

        Thank you both!

The Granger one is what I have in mind but loud noise isn't preferable.

I want to make my own whole house fan with an efficient fan. I found one that is about 90 watts at 1500cfm - with a 8 foot tube and vent. This one:
        Smart Breeze System
I like the concept and efficiency but they're way overpriced.
Any fans that match this efficiency or better that is really quiet!
        Sincerely,
        Aaron Murakami

          Duct Fan

          Hi Aaron,

What you may need is this ....

          model # 4YM41
HVACR > Fans > Inline Duct Fans > Fan,Duct,10 In : Grainger Industrial Supply
Duct Fan, Centrifugal, In-line, Fits Duct Dia 10 In, CFM @ 0.000-In SP 598, CFM @ 0.125-In SP 580, Max Inlet Temp 140 Deg F, Voltage 115, 60 Hz, Single Phase, Max Amps 1.96, Bearing Type Ball, Housing Dia 13 3/8 In, Length 8 In, Mounting Position Horizontal or Vertical

I't expensive but works well and is fairly quite made for your type of application.
