I'm not ready to publish the schematic yet cuz it's stupid simple. But I thought these numbers looked pretty good. I guess if ya'll do, I'll draw it up for ya.

Is that HF current though, as the meter could be making an error if the frequency of the current is beyond it's measuring scope?

Good question amigo. I had thought the meter was messed up because of the wild readings. Those are the only meters I have and the other meter doesn't do amps. The amp readings go up and down in a linear fashion in sync with the machines operation and the number will increase until it goes off the scale.

With the meter disconnected from the machine and the machine running it starts reading High Voltage with no contact. I can move the meter to the next room and measure a known value accurately but get the meter close enough to that machine and it starts going crazy.

The intensity of the light coming off the neon and pain of the shock if the wrong wire is touched lends validity to the numbers though.

I know those numbers are pretty wild, at the moment though I can't figure out how to disprove them. Thats why I came out early. I feel like I'm working in a vacuum and need some outside observations.

I wish I could offer some suggestions, but I am not sure how to get the output down to the acceptable frequency range for the meter.

Perhaps others could shine more light on the problem as I'd be interested to learn as well.

If the numbers on the meters are correct, they show 1800 volts and over 10 amps coming out of a 12 volt battery for 5 minutes. What does that mean?

That's 1800V, 10A at a pulsed rate, so whatever is the duty cycle would be your multiplier (10%, 20%, 50%)...just guess-timating here.

Be a little more specific amigo. You'll have to spell it out for me. Seriously I have no idea what to make of it.

My ignorance aside, here's another video I did a little later trying to get a decent shot of the meter's...you can't see much until the end but there's a better description and you can see the numbers good right at the end.

I'll try to get another (better) video out later. At the moment though I'm playing with some capacitors added...she self runs for several seconds with just one pulse from the battery! Haha.

              Thanks for the help.

                schematic?

Could you show us your configuration? It would help to understand what you got there. It is hard to tell what is going on other then seeing the results of what you are doing.
Is it a tesla switch? How many batteries are you running, just one?

What I was guesstimating at is the actual current/voltage being ON only when during the duty cycle. Since most meters can't measure high frequencies the actual values appear higher than they really are.

Thanks amigo, basically the meter is whack if the machine is running. And functions normally if the machine is'nt running. It reads volts and amps even with no contact just in proximity to the device running.

I'd say the machine cant be drawing more than about 100 ma per pulse...it will charge batteries....light the neon...the capacitor in the power supply fills over 30 volts very quickly.

I sure would like to figure out what I'm making that causes that meter to go buggy. RF has been suggested.

The machine consists of a battery, a 12v wall transformer type power supply (not plugged into the wall), a neon bulb, an led, and an interrupter switch which is fashioned from a cd player motor, a disc with foil tape on it, and two wires.

Sorry, I'm still not ready to publish a schematic. I have yet to complete the experiment, and I don't trust my observations. Thanks for the interest though.

Here's the diagram. I'm gonna let it rest awhile. It was starting to interfere with the TV.

I just don't know what I'm looking at in your diagram.

I like your rotary spark gap, I've built one like that myself.
