    A passing thought.....

How about a Tesla museum and hotel? There are five levels inside this building (4 below ground). And rebuild a mock tower just to pinpoint the landmark and cause interest. Guided tours through parts of the building and up the tower, etc., etc.

That would be a great idea, there is also several other good buildings out of the fourteen that are usable, hopefully something like that will happen ........ but the chance of it being totally under a State or Federal organization would be the best of the worse, like just being seen on site with a shovel in your car and getting in trouble type. It would probably take a act of congress to excavate the shaft and bottom raceway tunnel areas of the Transmitter Tower and other locations that may exist, as you know Tesla said himself the underground work was the most time consuming and expensive. Then of course the present owner did dump a lot of funky chemicals from the photo finishing that was done, it took what looks like from 1995 until 2009 to come to a agreement with the "New York State Department of Environmental Conservation" from start, clean up to finish ..... but the DEC still say it could be hazardous ??

        Media Outlet Contacts

        Hi everyone,

Here is a list of possible Media Outlets that could be helpful in passing on information to further this cause. I would only recommend that a letter is (via snail mail) more effective than a e-mail but if you have time both would be great. I personally want to thank everyone involved in this worthy cause members and guests alike.

New York Department of Environmental Conservation

          Hi everyone,

I found some information on the site clean up of toxic chemicals -

New York Department of Environmental Conservation Fact Sheet "Feb 2004"
"Peerless Photo Products Site" Site No. 1-52-031

Remedy Proposed for the Peerless Photo Products Site

"Proposed Remedial Action Plan" (fact sheet - 3 pages)

It appears that one area shown in these old photos after 1917 where the magnifying transmitter tower was removed for salvage, is a fill area from ground level to thirty (30) feet down Peerless did use for dumping unknown toxic waste. This soil here was so badly polluted it was removed and replaced with clean.

This could mean that from thirty (30) feet to one hundred and twenty (120) feet down the ruins of the subterranean bottom area of the Transmitting tower should be still there and possibly intact. The biggest question is the "In Situ" stabilization that was involved in the cleanup process, there are some terms that still apply to any landowner of the site.

In situ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
          "Environmental engineering"
In situ can refer to where a clean up or remediation of a polluted site is performed using and simulating the natural processes in the soil, contrary to ex situ where contaminated soil is excavated and cleaned elsewhere, off site.

There still may be some hope in excavation of the tower base but it won't be easy.

          Best wishes,
          Glen

            Hi everyone,

The rally at Shoreham Long Island New York was last weekend and had about 200 people there with special guests ...

            US Congressman Tim Bishop
            NYS Senator Kenneth LaValle
            NYS Assemblyman Marc S. Alessi
            Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy
Suffolk County Legislator Daniel P. Losquadro
            Suffolk County Legislator Edward Romaine
            Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko
            Brookhaven Town Concilwoman Jane Bonner
Shoreham Civic Organization President Kevin Ward
Tesla Memorial Society of New York, President, Dr. Ljubo Vujovic

The Rally to Preserve Tesla's Lab in Shoreham, Long Island on May 30, 2009

Hopefully with the help from "The National Trust for Historic Preservation" and others concerned the Tesla's Wardenclyffe laboratory and surrounding site might be saved. Please keep those letters going out and thanks to all the members and guests for what you have already done in this cause.

Looking good, Glen, and you are right on spot - now is the time to keep applying pressure to make this turn out right. A one-day event can draw a lot of attention, but we know that attention fades fast because most people have the attention span of a gnat, and soon forget what is important. Inattention and apathy have been the greatest setbacks to historic preservation efforts in America, and this isn't likely to change. Be persistent at making your voices heard, and remember that, "it is the squeaky wheel that gets the grease."

                Hi Rick,
The response on this endeavor for support is slow, the letters I sent out have been somewhat consistent in the response that they are aware but undecided or unable to help at this time ..... some standard form letters. I'm sure that your right that pressure by just not letting this go away and the persistence of the concerned will make the best outcome that can be hoped for.

There is movement in the sales and it appears a confirmed offer from a developer on giving 7 acres of the site for a 9 acre 48 unit condominium plan, sounds alright I suppose but the 7 acres includes 99% of the "super fund" clean-up which would leave the developer not responsible for any additional future clean-up work if ever required and all annual record keeping needed.

The most encouraging is from Assemblyman Marc Alessi (D-Shoreham), gave a $350,000 state grant to serve as a down payment to be used for the protection and preservation of the 16-acre site. I have no clue what the ramification of this is or what it truly means, on who gets what and where it going, but I'm trying to find out more information to share.

@ Rick, I haven't heard anything yet so I just sent out some more e-mails to get updated, maybe I'll have to actually write letters or make some phone calls.

Here is some more contacts to further the progress of saving the "Wardenclyffe" Nikola Tesla laboratory site in Shoreham, Long Island NY. I must thank you all again for your continued participation and support in this worthy cause.

Thanks for the extras, Glen. We must keep after these people. Remember, "it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease."

                        Hi everyone,

This morning I got a e-mail from Jane Alcorn, president of the "Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe", and was able to answer the questions about the grants and donations received by mail and online, also how grateful the organization is for the donations and help. As I suspected a great deal of cost is used for informing the masses on information and the goals to the "Wardenclyffe" site, this is the best reason it is so important for us to use whatever influence we have at our disposal to further the cause to help limit expenses for something we can easily do. She did indicate at this time she had no details on the "State" grant that has been given and the new ownership of the property, i'll see what I can find out.

Thanks again to all members and guest that are actively working or just have time to add your voice to this worthy cause, to "Save Wardenclyffe" anyone interested in helping .... the previous posts have "CONTACT" information

                        Best Wishes,

                          Mr. Xxxxxxxxxxx:

Thank you for your recent email regarding the Tesla Laboratory in
Shoreham, New York. As you know, I was able to secure $350,000 for
capital improvements to this site. As of now, the Friends of Science

funds. Please do not hesitate to contact my district office should you
have any further questions regarding this matter. In addition, I would

"Lowng Igland" = Rich over-bred snots (sorry for the nasty over-generalization lol but you get the point). Especially the ones who would be involved here... Not the best place to sell Free Energy.

It's a seriously HUGE over-generalization and far from the truth. In fact, it's downright insulting to the vast majority of the population. I haven't lived there for several years, but I recall having some of the highest utility rates in the nation. I can't think of any place in the nation that that would not want cheaper power, unless of coures they are spinning their meter in reverse. Sorry for the side track, rant over.

Anyway, I think it would be great if this place could be preserved or better yet, restored. I passed by there a million times and had no clue that it was there.
