The same silly machine is also mentioned in the "Earth Battery SG" thread. It ran for several days live on Justin TV powered by junk 6 volt lantern batteries. I've farted around with the same "dead" batteries for a lonnng time. Many moons.

As for the overall direction of the project I recently posted some info in the "Use For the Tesla Switch" and various other threads.

Alas, factors such as no capital, tools or materials slows the quest. I wouldn't mind a bit though if some one built it for me. I would like to have a copy.

I haven't had the time to read all & look at any of the You-tube clips at the start of this, but I will later tonight.

My idea recently for a mechanical switch to exclude the air & produce a "Disruptive Discharge" or a sudden Crack! (as per P. Lindermann's talk on Tesla's Radiant Energy).

I made a vertical set-up inside a glass tube (so I could observe it - Bad idea) with Mecury on the bottom (a conductor inside the Mercury and exiting out a sealed hole in the side). Then I made a tungsten rod that moves up and down, in and out of the mercruy. Set so it JUST touched the Mercury. The I filled the rest of the tube with Glyserine, as it has a huge dielectric strength of around 42! The Tungsten rod was made to vibrate or move up and down by an insulated attachment to a shaft on a solinoid which was pulsed. (I have heard of high speed solinoids which can operate to around 100k c/s)? Need to investigate that.

The switch lasted for two "cracks" until it went bang! The glass tube shattered and sprayed glyserine everywhere, along with a tiny amount of the Hg.

Next build will have the container made of teflon or something much more robust. Then we will see what happens!

Safety splash shields etc will be in place this time!!

One could, like sputins, just appropriate the mercury drop and use a solenoid. That's a fine if not explosive idea

Or enclose the mercury in a glass eyedropper tube with a bottom electrode and have the top electrode be a swinging steel needle, actuated by passing magnets.

Hehe, its ok to copy, perhaps tweak a it bit too, that's why i'm sharing! I Think if your discharging a large cap (30uF @ 5000V) like I was, the Jacar mercury switch may explode. Also there is air in there, you may find excluding the air is a good idea. Those switches make it easy to obtain a small amount of mercury though.

Just take it easy with the Mercury, I have found out the hard way! I will post a pic or something when the new switch is photo worthy.. Thanks for sharing all of your you-tube clips.. I must do the same at some point..

Conductive liquid spray

@Sucahyo - basically, he's saying that a pump makes a fine point of spray of conductive liquid from a container with one battery contact in the liquid, when sprayed onto a metal plate (collect the drops to re use) will be of very high frequency.

The liquid could be water with a solution of Epsom salt, copper sulfide, etc. Salt would corrode the pump.

Perhaps a small decorative fountain pump would suffice.

I see, thanks, I thought it was to send periodic block of water as contacting bridge. I guess any electrolyte can electrolize the contact. Would high concentration of electrolyte can bridge low voltage contact?

@ Sucahyo - yes, you'd want to dissolve as much into the water as you could, or find another conductive liquid or increase the voltage if the electrolyte won't carry enough current..

Yes, but your body can't get rid of absorbed mercury which makes you go mentally crazy.

So, steer away from mercury streams.
