Inq, in the age of spark production where seemingly everyone wants a bigger spark in desired colour (purple, green, etc.), you dare to quench the sparks.

To bad so many researchers on Tesla's work do not question why he worked so hard on quenching the spark gaps.

Nice work on magnetic diode Inq.

I put together a bedini self oscillator circuit with 2 phased ign. coils 24k volts of caps on each one and fired it up through the secondary of a mini tesla coil i built and then in series to the spark gaps. I've been getting some interesting effects and some really fast negative potential building voltage on my secondary battery. I started a new thread as i didn't want to confuse your thread here as it is not really that related.
I did make a couple videos though.

Thanks for the dimmer circuit suggestion. I'm going to pick one up and start saving money on wasted 555 chips. :P
Self oscillator works but not that great for tesla coil discharge on the top load as amps are a little too low i think.

I'm going to try a magnetic diode. have lots of magnets laying around to play with.
