Its the Pharms and Privates who are the enemies here

Although i certainly agree with the sentiment to "get rid of the bums!", i think the entire point on this healthcare bill is being missed.

It was a total disaster from the start. Why? Because 98 Senators take big money from the private insurers and Pharms. This bill is pure corporate welfare FOR the private insurers. They get to go on cheating everyone, and now people are even FORCED to buy their wares.. Or pay a serious penalty. WTF... This was supposed to be about insuring the 50 million (and quickly growing) Americans with no healthcare. Instead, when the Public Option was killed (the Senate would not even allow Debate on it, despite over 60 percent of the pop WANTING it), they decided to PUNISH us for even asking for Reform, by FORCING us to buy their crooked and totally overpriced private insurance deals.

THIS IS THE REAL CRIMINALITY here. How can they get away with this? When we were forced to buy car insurance, they said that "driving is a privilege". Now, does this mean that "LIVING IS A PRIVILEGE" too... that we must now pay private corporations for??

Most Americans WANT not-for profit healthcare insurance (whether some of you here do or not). Most industrialized countries already have it. We are NOT ALLOWED to have it, because it will cost the Pharms and Privates billions in profits that they get from denying care to sick people.

The overt corruption here, directly tied to the pharm and private insurance lobbyists, is so sickening, that nearly EVERY SINGLE SENATOR (except for 3 ; Saunders, Burris, and the new guy from Minnesota) should lose in their next Primary election. And many of us will be working for that.

How can we not have single payer when about 60% wanted it, but instead be charged through the noise for living as if that where a crime? That's it isn't it, to the Ruling Class our being alive is a crime against humanity and we should be punished for every breath we take. I think we should go around with the signs of the consitution that point out what ever health care we have they must also have, then this would just evaporate into thin air.

The Invention of the Jewish People (Hebrew: ?מתי ואיך הומצא העם היהודי Matai ve’ech humtza ha’am hayehudi?, literally When and How was the Jewish People Invented?) is a book on the historiography of the origins of the Jewish people by professor Shlomo Sand, a Tel Aviv University historian. The English translation was published by Verso Books in October 2009.

Sand argues that most contemporary Jews do not originate from the ancient Land of Israel. They never existed as a "nation-race" with a common origin. Just as most contemporary Christians and Muslims are the progeny of converted people, not of the first Christians and Muslims, Judaism was originally, like its two cousins, a converting religion. Many of the present day world Jewish population are descendants of European, Russian and African groups.

Sand, for example, does not mention the fact that, from 2000 onwards, a team of scholars from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem labored on the production of a three-volume study on the history of the Jews of Russia. He adds that "the kind of political intervention Sand is talking about, namely, a deliberate program designed to make Israelis forget the true biological origins of the Jews of Poland and Russia or a directive for the promotion of the story of the Jews' exile from their homeland is pure fantasy."

Historian Anita Shapira criticizes Sand for regularly "grab(bing) at the most unorthodox theory" in a field and then stretching it "to the outer limits of logic and beyond" during Sand's survey of three thousand years of history. Shapira says that the Sand's political program makes the book an attempt to "drag history into a topical argument, and with the help of misrepresentations and half-truths to adapt it to the needs of a political discussion."

According to historian Simon Schama, reviewing the book in the Financial Times, Sand thinks that "the Khazars, the central Asian kingdom which, around the 10th century, converted to Judaism have been excised from the master narrative because of the embarrassing implication that present day Jews might be descended from Turkic converts." Schama himself, however, counters that "the Khazars were known by every Jewish girl and boy in my neck of Golders Greenery and further flung parts of the diaspora, and celebrated rather than evaded." Schama, in his critique, contends that Sand's position is one that "no one who has thought for a minute about the history of the Jews would dream of taking," and proceeds to deconstruct many of the book's major points. Sand responded to Schama's critique on his website.


Some Jewish historians have said that Sand is dealing with subjects about which he has no understanding and that he bases his book on work that he is incapable of reading in the original languages. Most of the book deals with the question of where the Jews come from, rather than questions of modern Jewish nationalism and the — according to Sand — modern invention of the Jewish people."

Sand admits that he is "a historian of France and Europe, and not of the ancient period…" and that he has "been criticized in Israel for writing about Jewish history when European history is my specialty. Latest Public Opinion statistics on Healthcare Reform and government

Here are the latest polling results concerning Healthcare Reform, as compiled by Rasmussen Reports just yesterday. Rasmussen polls, done through random robotic telephone calls, are consistently rated the most accurate of any public opinion polling group.

• Forty percent (40%) of voters now favor the creation of a government-sponsored non-profit health insurance option (Public Option) that people could choose instead of a private health insurance plan. But 48% oppose such an option. While advocates of the public option believe it will increase the range of choices offered to individuals, the president has acknowledged that it could have the opposite impact. By creating a “public option,” there is a risk that companies may dump their existing employee health coverage because it’s cheaper to pay the fine for not having such coverage than it is to pay their current share of the workers’ health insurance.
• Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters say it is more important to guarantee that no one is forced to change their health insurance coverage than it is to give consumers the choice of a government-sponsored non-profit health insurance option.
• Just 40% of voters nationwide now favor Healthcare Reform legislation, while 55% are opposed. Those figures are essentially unchanged from a week ago.This is the sixth straight week with support for the legislation between 38% and 41%.
• Just 21% of voters Strongly Favor the plan while 43% are Strongly Opposed.
• Sixty-three percent (63%) now believe the legislation will increase healthcare costs. That’s up from 58% a week ago.
• Only 13% now believe the proposal will achieve its stated goal of reducing the cost of health care.
• By a 54% to 24% margin, voters now believe that passage of the plan will make the quality of care worse. Those figures have remained fairly consistent for months.
• The latest numbers show that 76% of Democrats favor the plan while 82% of Republicans are opposed. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 28% support the plan and 66% are opposed. Senior citizens are opposed by a 63% to 31% margin.
• Eighty-seven percent (87%) believe that before anyone receives government health care subsidies, they should be required to prove they are legally in the United States. President Obama and congressional Democrats insist the health care plan will not cover illegal immigrants, but the legislation does not require proof of citizenship for those seeking taxpayer-funded health care.
• Sixty percent (60%) believe passage of the health care legislation will increase the federal budget deficit.
• Fifty-seven percent (57%) say it would be better to pass no healthcare reform bill this year than to pass the plan currently being considered by Congress.

Another interesting poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports asked the following three questions concerning public opinion of government:

1. Generally speaking, when it comes to important national issues, whose judgment do you trust more - the American people or America’s political leaders?
2. Some people believe that the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests. Has the federal government become a special interest group?
3. Do government and big business often work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors?

The results of that poll are as follows:

• Seventy percent (70%) of voters generally trust the American people more than political leaders on important national issues.
• Sixty-eight percent (68%) view the federal government as a special interest group.
• Seventy-one percent (71%) believe that the government and big business typically work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors.

It is also interesting to note that over the years these results have changed very little no matter whether Republicans or Democrats are in charge of the government.

The so called "ruling elite" were asleep and baited just as were the "general populace". You see true Communism is run by the government NOT the people poor or wealthy.

Hi Walter, and thanks for your input. It would appear that you reference the "ruling elite" as something different than I do and basically being the wealthy upper class. I agree that the wealthy upper class, the middle class, and the poor were all asleep and unaware of the plan of domination being carried out, and the fact that they were complying with it.

My definition of the American Ruling Class (the subject of this thread) is a circle of massively wealthy and powerful families that run the banks, corporations, and government, and essentially control everything in America. Those in the highest elected or appointed positions within our government are only in those positions because they are chosen by the American Ruling Class, and they are there to represent and carry out the agenda of the Ruling Class - not to represent the American people. They are political puppets of the Ruling Class, who pull all the strings while maintaining a position of low visibility that the public is largely unaware of. The true Ruling Class of America, and of the world, for that matter, were never asleep to the plan of total domination because they are the ones who formulated the plan in order to maintain and expand their power and dominion over us.

I appreciate the work you have done in researching CAFR, and your efforts to inform the public. I do think however, that your notion of overturning all of the corruption with "the stroke of a pen" is a huge oversimplification of the matter at hand, especially if we leave the corrupt individuals and institutions intact. You suggest that the financial cartels can be left in place and that this is a win-win situation - "The financial cartels (unequaled capital investment held and growing driving the economy and under their management)." I don't want to leave anything under their management. I firmly believe that nothing can come of this unless we first replace all our government representatives with people of integrity who will uphold the US Constitution, and who will consider it their first and foremost priority to abolish the Federal Reserve and the IRS, and end the practices that allow lobbyists and special interest groups to exert their influence. Sure, you can get teams of Certified Financial Accountants to study the CAFR's and expose government corruption to the public, but public opinion and outrage has no effect upon those in Washington. They have made that very clear while pushing through the bailout bills, the Economic Stimulus Act, and the Health Reform package, all of which have been strongly opposed by the public.

I do agree that examining and reporting on the CAFR's at all levels is of great importance, and that the information can be used as part of our arsenal in our struggle against tyranny and oppression. I noticed that among the links for state CAFR's at your website there is no listing for Maine, and perhaps that was hard to find. Please feel free to add the information for Maine, which can be found here:

Government "Pork"

We all know that there is a lot of dealing that goes on in Washington, sometimes out in the open and at other times behind closed doors. Every time that a new bill is introduced, Congessmen and Senators immediately set out to add in expenditures for "pork barrel" projects which more often than not have nothing to do with the legislation being considered. That way, in order to pass the legislation, the pork projects automatically get approved. This practice should have been outlawed long ago, but it is the favorite tool of politicians. The President does have line item veto power wherein he can strike out any and all pork barrel items that he finds, before signing his approval to the legislation, but for the most part this option is totally ignored. After all, who has the time to read thousands of pages of legislative documents to determine where the pork is hidden? Actually, there is a citizens group which does exactly that. They are known as Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW). CAGW's mission is to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement in the federal government. Especially interesting is their annual publication titled, "Congressional Pig Book Summary," which lists all the wasteful pork barrel federal government spending for the year. The 2009 Maine Pig Book identifies more than $2 billion in wasteful Maine state government spending. This publication is done by the Maine Heritage Policy Center, a non-partisan non-profit organization. Their website MOG | Government Spending...Down to Agency, Person, and Penny offers complete details on Maine taxation and expenditures.

I would expect that organizations in other states offer similar information, and you might try a Google search to find info for your state. The total amount of government pork is humongous, and these watchdog groups can tell us exactly what is being spent on what projects, and who requested them. A great resource.
