Cyprus bailout: 'Trust in our banks has evaporated. It can only get worse' | World news | guardian.co.uk
Undoubtedly it was only this showing of public anger that prevented the parliament from imposing the 10% levy. Just the fact that the bailout levy was proposed and put up for a vote, though, surely has a great many Cypriots determined to withdraw their account balances in order to protect their assets from any further assaults. With a run on banks pretty much a certainty, no doubt the parliament will feel compelled to legislate some emergency measure to protect the banking system, such as freezing accounts, or allowing only small withdrawals that are in keeping with past accounts history. The European Union (EU) will continue playing hardball with Cyprus, and will probably boot Cyprus out of the EU unless they can force Cyprus to pay up. That would, of course be the best thing to happen to Cypus, as they could then start printing their own currency debt and interest free. There's obviously no advantage to Cyprus in remaining in the EU. Sure, they will be castigated and cut off by other EU nations which will refuse to trade with them, but Cyprus can be largely independent and can still arrange trade agreements with nations outside the EU. But will the Cypriot parliament do what is necessary, or simply do what TPTB tell them to do?

    • The experts agree.....

If you haven't already seen the video "Innocents Betrayed," I strongly urge to to watch it now. It is a 57 minute video that teaches the history of gun control, and the despicable acts that were perpetrated upon the people of several nations by their own governments, under the guise of "protecting" citizens. If you watch this and don't recognize some strong similarities to what is going on right now in the United States, then you are likely to be one of those sheeple that are easily misled and deluded by government propaganda. Only the most intelligent among us will find it sufficient to learn and be convinced by studying history and recognizing when history repeats itself. The rest will only recognize it when it has personally befallen and affected them.

        • Did the Social Studies Really Replace History in American Secondary Schools?

          Findings/Conclusions:
The author argues that the transition from history to the social studies at the secondary level was not abrupt and that the social studies reform movement did not directly target discipline-based history.
More important, he demonstrates that, at least through the 1930s, history courses were never fully displaced by amalgamated social studies classes.
Therefore, the degree to which history and historians were “replaced” by the social studies and its advocates have been exaggerated in the present literature, and the use of words like, “abrupt,” “disappearance,” and “educationists,” have been misleading.

          • Apparently the author is trying to sugar coat the fact that history was replaced by social studies where the facts could be more easily colored to suit current agendas. Of course there was not an abrupt change in the way history was being taught because to do so might have wakened up the sheeple as to what was really going on.

            • The Corporation US Senate voted 75 to 24 to approve the Internet Tax Mandate, mislabeled as the "Marketplace Fairness Act." This just goes to show that Senate Democrats and Republicans alike are on board with implementing as many new tax schemes as possible in order to carry on their out of control tax and spend mentality.

              • News has leaked out that Connecticut offered Freedom Group, the parent company of Bushmaster Firearms, a low interest $1 million loan if they would move 25 executives and its headquarters to Stamford Connecticut. Ironically, the offer was made on December 6th, just 8 days before the Sandy Hook incident where a Bushmaster AR-15 was alleged to have been used to kill several school children. The offer was quickly withdrawn right after the Sandy Hook incident occurred, and it is no wonder they wanted to keep this offer quiet. Read more about this here.

In other gun related news, we see that the mainstream media is still featuring a new shooting story every day, as well as rehashing older ones, in order to sway public opinion and keep the pressure on for gun control legislation. This week the top stories were the killing of a Colorado prison director, and a pizza delivery man, by a prominent attorney's white supremacist son, the shooting deaths of three marines at Quantico, in Virginia, and the youngster shot in the face while sitting in a stroller and out for a walk with the mother. The press chooses only these kind of high profile cases to spotlight, as it makes for better story lines than your typical every-day armed convenience store robbery or gang related shootings, in which the incident itself, or facts about the perps and victims, are usually rather ho-hum. Thus, only stories that afford some kind of sensationalism are featured. This daily onslaught will surely continue until the gun control advocates get their way, no matter how long that takes. Of that we can be sure.

I BELIEVE, prior to 'floating' the idea of the 10% surtax, the banks in Cypriot has ALREADY been closed, (to prevent a run), and YES, walking away from the E.U. would be 'best' for many of these countries, but WILL they DO it?

The 'argument' for the I-net tax; its 'unfair' that sales from a 'brick and mortar' store are subject to tax, but those from an I-net 'store' are not, and I agree, it IS unfair. So, just 'dissolve' the sales tax obligation, on the 'brick and mortar' sales; problem solved!

And yes, the peole who are elceted to D.C, regardless of party, are attracted to, seduced by the illusion of power; no taxes, no $, no influence, no power.

Thats a big part of the problem, that ever increasing Gov't has an inherent momentum to it; its like an 'addiction', and no addict will willingly undergo 'cold turkey', unless they realise they have no other choice.

We will need a REAL crises, before we will see real change. I THINK 'they' are creating such a real crises, out of incompetence and shortsightedness, and turf protection and Beurocratic bungling; YOU thoink they are doing it deliberately; either way, its going to take a collapse, or run-away Hyper-inflation, and even then the barstuds will do their best to try to manuever on top.

I DID hear the new P.M. of japan, was going to try to do things to break their long run of stagnant economy, and was likely to mis-calculate, resulting in Hyper-inflation for japan, which COULD set off worldwide Hyper-inflation.

Whereas: Obamacare violates the Constitution in several ways including forcing Americans to buy services they may not want or need; and
Whereas: This big-government takeover of healthcare is driving up healthcare costs, imposing new taxes, increasing deficit spending, ballooning the national debt, and destroying our national healthcare system; and
Whereas: Never before has such an unconstitutional monstrosity been unwillingly and unlawfully imposed on the American people; and
                    Whereas: Polls overwhelmingly show the vast majority of Americans favor repeal of Obamacare;
Therefore: I urge you to take action to repeal Obamacare immediately.

                    • Nearly a year ago, in April of 2012, the PBS program Frontline produced a documentary series titled, Money, Power, and Wall Street. As revealed in the Frontline report, Barry's administration cohort, Eric Holder, has driven federal prosecutions of financial crimes down to a two-decade low. The administration, and Holder's inJustice Department, have been blinded to corporate corruption by campaign donations from Wall Street banks (which Holder has said are too big to prosecute anyways) and staffers whose very prosperous financial portfolios came about as a result of chummy relationships with financiers.

Even leftist progressive radio show host, best-selling author and journalist David Sirota has pointed out that Barry's administration has made a mockery of what the Justice Department was meant to be. Sirota says:

After watching the [PBS Frontline] piece, you will understand that the word “justice” belongs in quotes thanks to an Obama administration that has made a mockery of the name of a once hallowed executive department… Rooted in historical comparison, it contrasts how the Reagan administration prosecuted thousands of bankers after the now-quaint-looking S&L scandal with how the Obama administration betrayed the president’s explicit promise to “hold Wall Street accountable” and refused to prosecute a single banker connected to 2008′s apocalyptic financial meltdown. - David Sirota
Sirota recently lost his radio show, which had aired on Clear Channel from Denver. Two likely reasons why this may have happened are closely linked. First, Sirota's unwelcome bashing of Barry's administration and Wall Street, and secondly the fact that Bain Capital bought out Clear Channel. In the world of high finance, money talks the loudest and can buy pretty much anything desired, as there are always plenty of greedy, corrupt, and willing people in high positions who stand ready to play the game as TPTB designate it must be played.

                      • Just last month, the DHS took delivery of 240,000 rounds of hollow point ammo. Now they are soliciting an additional 360,000 rounds of “Commercial leaded training ammo (CLTA) Pistol .40 caliber 165 grain, jacketed hollow point.”

DHS continues to claim that its massive ammo purchases are strictly for training purposes, and that purchasing in these large quantities is a cost saving measure. Does anyone really believe that hogwash? First of all, why would DHS need 2 billion rounds of ammo for training their personnel? The DHS has around 240 thousand employees, and many of these are office workers who wouldn't be packing weapons. But even if all of these employees were trained to shoot, this would represent over 8,000 rounds of ammo per employee, which is far more than necessary. The claim of cost savings is nonsense, as hollow point ammo is considerably more expensive than normal target range ammo. Besides, hollow point ammo has only one specific use, which is to inflict maximum possible kill rates, and for that reason is actually banned for military use. Former marine Ricard Mason, in an interview with WHPT News in Pennsylvania this month, said that, “We never trained with hollow points. We didn’t even see hollow points my entire four and a half years in the Marine Corps.”

Despite the many legitimate questions raised by members of Congress and concerned organizations, DHS has refused to explain their massive buildup in arms and ammo. It is a sobering thought to realize that the amount of ammo purchased by DHS is enough to shoot every man, woman, and child in the United States (including all illegal aliens) at least 5 times, and this is probably what retired United States Army Captain Terry M. Hestilow had in mind when he sent a letter to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) warning that the ammo purchases represent “a bold threat of war by that agency (DHS), and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America.”

                          • During his military career, Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin, retired, was one of the original members of the U.S. Army’s Delta Force. He ultimately commanded those elite warriors in combat operations, and later Boykin commanded all of the Army’s Green Beret forces as well as the Special Warfare Center and School. In all, Boykin spent 36 years in the US Army, serving his last four years of duty as the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence.

Lt. Gen. Boykin produced a video two years ago in which he warns the American public of the government's plan to turn our nation into a Marxist state. In the video, Boykin explains that he knows the standard procedural steps for creating a socialist or Marxist state because he studied this in depth as a military officer. He warns that the ground work for accomplishing all six of these steps has already been put in place.

                            He lists these steps as:

                            1. nationalize major sections of the economy (the corporate bailouts),

                            2. redistribute wealth, one of Barry's prime objectives (the man appointed to head Medicare said health care is “nothing but a redistribution of wealth”),

                            3. discredit opposition (Boykin said he’s “never been so angry” as when Barry's administration called returning vets, pro-lifers and others a terror threat),

                            4. censorship (since old guard media already was in line, Obama’s censorship has been through “hate crimes” legislation aimed at Christian pastors and others),

                            5. gun control (Washington’s current and aggressive agenda), and

                            6. a constabulary force. In other words, “a force that can control the population,” as Boykin warned (think DHS).

With all six steps nearly complete, how far off can the endgame really be? The endgame cannot move forward without either confiscating the public's guns, or ensuring that ammo for those guns is in scarce supply, and we can see that Barry's administration and Congress are in the midst of an all-out effort to accomplish both those objectives. Gun shops have reported nationwide shortages of ammo, particularly for semi-automatic handguns and rifles, and the US military is also reporting the same scarcity in their supply. Is there any doubt that these shortages are resulting from the massive orders for the billions of rounds of ammo placed by the DHS? And does anyone really believe that our progression towards a Socialist/Marxist state is simply the result of stupidity, politics, and incompetence practiced by Congress, rather than a planned agenda?
