    • @Rick,

When I click the petition link to oppose the Detroit bailout, it just takes me to the energetic forum home page?

If we allow congress to sign us up for this bailout I fear many more cities will soon follow.

I'm not quite sure if you are asking about the federal budget deficit or the national debt. Many people don't understand that there is a difference. The budget deficit (total budgeted expenses less total revenues) for fiscal year 2013 is about 1 trillion, which is a one with twelve zeros after it, so looks like this: $1,000,000,000,000

The stated national debt (far less than the true national debt) is about 17 trillion, which looks like this: $17,000,000,000,000

The current US population is a bit over 316 million, and the world population stands at a little over 7 billion. (See US and World population clocks here)

Therefore, the 2013 budget deficit of about $1 trillion represents a single year debt of $3,165 for every man, woman, and child populating the US, while the stated national debt of $17 trillion imposes a debt 17 times that size (or $53,805) per person. While that's shocking enough, it really doesn't tell the true story for these reasons:
          1. The stated national debt doesn't include the $125 trillion in current unfunded liabilities for social programs. When you add that in, the current national debt is $142 trillion, which represents a debt of $449,367 for every American man, woman, and child.
          2. The "national debt" only takes into account the debt burden imposed by the federal government, and does not consider state debts, corporate debts, or personal debts, thus even the $449,367 figure stated above is way low of actual per capita debt.
          3. The burden of debt is not going to be carried on the backs of anyone but taxpayers, either now or in the future, and we don't have 316 million taxpayers. In 2013 there were 114 million persons who were counted as taxpayers due to the fact that they were included in tax filings which showed they had earned income. The national debt per stated taxpayer now becomes $142 trillion divided by 114 million, which is $1,245,614 or nearly one and one quarter million dollars!
          4. Not all of tax filers actually faced a tax burden. A great many filed only to receive refunds based upon earned income credits and child tax credits. If you include as "taxpayers" only the number of people who actually paid out more in federal taxes than they received in tax credits and welfare benefits then you can see that the true debt burden per actual taxpayer is probably closer to $2 million, seeing as close to half of US households have no net tax burden.

A good question to ask is: Where would the "money" come from that would be necessary to pay that amount of debt? The answer is that the debt could never be repaid because that amount does not exist, has never existed, and never will exist. Currently there is only about $1.2 trillion in US coins and Federal Reserve notes in circulation worldwide, and the greater part of that amount, according to the Federal Reserve, is held in foreign countries, mainly in the form of $100 FRN's.

The Federal Reserve strategy, quite obviously, has been to create an ever growing cycle of unrepayable US debt. At the point in time when even the interest on the national debt is more than can be paid (and that time is not far away), the Fed will cite that default as reason to demand full payment of all debt owed them. And since that amount of US dollars is non-existent, payment will have to be made in other ways - such as by handing over title to all government owned lands, etc. Currently, about 1/3 of all land in the United States is owned by the federal government, a fact which few people realize. Those seated in our federal government would hand those lands over to the Fed with zero resistance, because they know that Section 4 of the 14th Amendment to our Constitution declares that "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law,...... shall not be questioned."

The Revolutionary War was fought and concluded when Cornwallis surrendered to Washington at Yorktown. As Americans we have been taught that we defeated the king and won our freedom. The next document I will use is the Treaty of 1783, which will totally contradict our having won the Revolutionary War. (footnote 2).

The long and short of it is nothing changed, the government just made it plainer, the 1040 is the payment of a foreign tax to the king/queen of England. We have been in financial servitude since the Treaty of 1783.

Another Treaty between England and the United States was Jay's Treaty of 1794 (footnote 5). If you will remember from the Paris Treaty of 1783, John Jay Esqr. was one of the negotiators of the Treaty. In 1794 he negotiated another Treaty with Britain. There was great controversy among the American people about this Treaty.

In Article 2 you will see the king is still on land that was supposed to be ceded to the United States at the Paris Treaty. This is 13 years after America supposedly won the Revolutionary War. I guess someone forgot to tell the king of England. In Article 6, the king is still dictating terms to the United States concerning the collection of debt and damages, the British government and World Bankers claimed we owe. In Article 12 we find the king dictating terms again, this time concerning where and with who the United States could trade. In Article 18 the United States agrees to a wide variety of material that would be subject to confiscation if Britain found said material going to its enemies ports. Who won the Revolutionary War?

It is clear that the Bankrupt, defacto government of the united States, which is operating under the War Powers Act and Executive Orders; not the Constitution for the united States, has in effect issued under its Admiralty Law, Letters of Marque (piracy) to its private agencies IRS, ATF, FBI and DEA, with further enforcement by its officers in the Courts, local police and sheriffs, waged war against the American People and has classed Americans as enemy aliens.

THE UNITED STATES IS STILL A BRITISH COLONY

              • quotable quote of the day...

Note: If the following quote speaks of things that are all too familiar with you, and you recognize that this is exactly what has been, and currently is, going on in this country, then you are are one of the People who has awakened to truth and understand that the greatest threat to our Republic, our freedoms, and our liberties, comes from within our nation's borders, and comes in the form of a tyrannical government which is hell bent on destroying our Republic and instituting a one-world government, or New World Order, under which the multitudes will become one of two things: useless eater expendables, or slave laborers.

"Corrupt the young, get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial, destroy their ruggedness. Get control of all means of publicity and thereby: Get the peoples' mind off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books and plays, and other trivialities. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance. Destroy the peoples faith in their natural leaders by holding up the latter to ridicule, contempt and obloquy. Always preach true democracy but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible. Encourage government extravagance, destroy its credit, produce fear with rising prices, inflation and general discontent. Foment unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders and foster a soft and lenient attitude on the part of government towards such disorders. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues: honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness. Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of confiscating them and leaving the population defenseless." - Vladimir Ilich Lenin, First Supreme Commissar U.S.S.R (from his plan for bringing down a free nation, as found in his “April Theses” directives)

At no previous time in the history of our nationhas it become so blatantly obvious as it is today that all of the things directed above by Lenin are being carried out, in the most forceful and psychologically effective manner possible, by the current regime in Washington. Only the blindest of sheeple would not recognize this.

                          • Snowden's dad schools Obama, Pelosi, and Holder in open letter

[IMG]July 30, 2013 - Re: Civil Disobedience, Edward J. Snowden, and the Constitution Dear Mr. President: You are acutely aware that the history of liberty is a history of civil disobedience to unjust laws or practices. As Edmund Burke sermonized, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” Civil disobedience is not the first, but the last option. Henry David Thoreau wrote with profound restraint in Civil Disobedience: “If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go: perchance it will wear smooth certainly the machine will wear out. If the injustice has a spring, or a pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil; but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter friction to stop the machine.” Thoreau’s moral philosophy found expression during the Nuremburg trials in which “following orders” was rejected as a defense. Indeed, military law requires disobedience to clearly illegal orders. A dark chapter in America’s World War II history would not have been written if the then United States Attorney General had resigned rather than participate in racist concentration camps imprisoning 120,000 Japanese American citizens and resident aliens. Civil disobedience to the Fugitive Slave Act and Jim Crow laws provoked the end of slavery and the modern civil rights revolution. We submit that Edward J. Snowden’s disclosures of dragnet surveillance of Americans under § 215 of the Patriot Act, § 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendments, or otherwise were sanctioned by Thoreau’s time-honored moral philosophy and justifications for civil disobedience. Since 2005, Mr. Snowden had been employed by the intelligence community. He found himself complicit in secret, indiscriminate spying on millions of innocent citizens contrary to the spirit if not the letter of the First and Fourth Amendments and the transparency indispensable to self-government. Members of Congress entrusted with oversight remained silent or Delphic. Mr. Snowden confronted a choice between civic duty and passivity. He may have recalled the injunction of Martin Luther King, Jr.: “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.” Mr. Snowden chose duty. Your administration vindictively responded with a criminal complaint alleging violations of the Espionage Act. From the commencement of your administration, your secrecy of the National Security Agency’s Orwellian surveillance programs had frustrated a national conversation over their legality, necessity, or morality. That secrecy (combined with congressional nonfeasance) provoked Edward’s disclosures, which sparked a national conversation which you have belatedly and cynically embraced. Legislation has been introduced in both the House of Representatives and Senate to curtail or terminate the NSA’s programs, and the American people are being educated to the public policy choices at hand. A commanding majority now voice concerns over the dragnet surveillance of Americans that Edward exposed and you concealed. It seems mystifying to us that you are prosecuting Edward for accomplishing what you have said urgently needed to be done! The right to be left alone from government snooping–the most cherished right among civilized people—is the cornerstone of liberty. Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson served as Chief Prosecutor at Nuremburg. He came to learn of the dynamics of the Third Reich that crushed a free society, and which have lessons for the United States today. Writing in Brinegar v. United States, Justice Jackson elaborated: The Fourth Amendment states: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”These, I protest, are not mere second-class rights but belong in the catalog of indispensable freedoms. Among deprivations of rights, none is so effective in cowing a population, crushing the spirit of the individual and putting terror in every heart. Uncontrolled search and seizure is one of the first and most effective weapons in the arsenal of every arbitrary government. And one need only briefly to have dwelt and worked among a people possessed of many admirable qualities but deprived of these rights to know that the human personality deteriorates and dignity and self-reliance disappear where homes, persons and possessions are subject at any hour to unheralded search and seizure by the police. We thus find your administration’s zeal to punish Mr. Snowden’s discharge of civic duty to protect democratic processes and to safeguard liberty to be unconscionable and indefensible. We are also appalled at your administration’s scorn for due process, the rule of law, fairness, and the presumption of innocence as regards Edward. On June 27, 2013, Mr. Fein wrote a letter to the Attorney General stating that Edward’s father was substantially convinced that he would return to the United States to confront the charges that have been lodged against him if three cornerstones of due process were guaranteed. The letter was not an ultimatum, but an invitation to discuss fair trial imperatives. The Attorney General has sneered at the overture with studied silence. We thus suspect your administration wishes to avoid a trial because of constitutional doubts about application of the Espionage Act in these circumstances, and obligations to disclose to the public potentially embarrassing classified information under the Classified Information Procedures Act. Your decision to force down a civilian airliner carrying Bolivian President Eva Morales in hopes of kidnapping Edward also does not inspire confidence that you are committed to providing him a fair trial. Neither does your refusal to remind the American people and prominent Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate like House Speaker John Boehner, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, and Senator Dianne Feinstein that Edward enjoys a presumption of innocence. He should not be convicted before trial. Yet Speaker Boehner has denounced Edward as a “traitor.” Ms. Pelosi has pontificated that Edward “did violate the law in terms of releasing those documents.” Ms. Bachmann has pronounced that, “This was not the act of a patriot; this was an act of a traitor.” And Ms. Feinstein has decreed that Edward was guilty of “treason,” which is defined in Article III of the Constitution as “levying war” against the United States, “or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.” You have let those quadruple affronts to due process pass unrebuked, while you have disparaged Edward as a “hacker” to cast aspersion on his motivations and talents. Have you forgotten the Supreme Court’s gospel in Berger v. United States that the interests of the government “in a criminal prosecution is not that it shall win a case, but that justice shall be done?” We also find reprehensible your administration’s Espionage Act prosecution of Edward for disclosures indistinguishable from those which routinely find their way into the public domain via your high level appointees for partisan political advantage. Classified details of your predator drone protocols, for instance, were shared with the New York Times with impunity to bolster your national security credentials. Justice Jackson observed in Railway Express Agency, Inc. v. New York: “The framers of the Constitution knew, and we should not forget today, that there is no more effective practical guaranty against arbitrary and unreasonable government than to require that the principles of law which officials would impose upon a minority must be imposed generally.” In light of the circumstances amplified above, we urge you to order the Attorney General to move to dismiss the outstanding criminal complaint against Edward, and to support legislation to remedy the NSA surveillance abuses he revealed. Such presidential directives would mark your finest constitutional and moral hour. Anti-semitism is of advantage to the exploiters as a lightning conductor that deflects the blows aimed by the working people at capitalism. Anti-semitism is dangerous for the working people as being a false path that leads them off the right road and lands them in the jungle. Hence Communists, as consistent internationalists, cannot but be irreconcilable, sworn enemies of anti-semitism.
