Meet Judge John Roll

"Widely respected." "A wise jurist."

The US news media heaped on the praise, but was purposefully vague about who this extraordinary judge was and what he actually did.

The early and oft-repeated media claim "the judge was just in the wrong place at the wrong time" doesn't ring true for several reasons, the most important being how the heck would they know and know so quickly?

Equally as suspicious, why did they feel the need to repeat this statement over and over again from the very beginning of the reports? Who inserted this into the news stream?

Judge Roll was an opponent of the Federal government overreaching its authority.

Specifically:

1. He ruled against federal imposition on states rights in gun law matters,

2. He ruled against elements of the Patriot Act (the part where federal "law enforcement agents" can seize your bank account without cause), and

3. He ruled against the newly announced FEMA Governor system in which the federal government plans to take the power of elected state Governors and put in in the hands of federally-appointed "regional" governors in the case of an "emergency."

It's a rare judge these days that stands up to this BS or shows any interest in the Constitution at all.

And he ended up dead in the parking lot of a Safeway Supermarket at the hands of a "lone nut" who local law enforcement allowed to run wild publicly making violent threats against employers and school administrators.

Meet Judge John Roll

This is certainly quite possible, Aaron. Does anyone have a link to information concerning who was actually shot first by Loughner? I haven't seen that information anywhere, but it would certainly tell us who his primary target was. Several were killed, and several others were wounded that day, but who was hit first? I'll bet that security cameras for at least one of the nearby stores captured the shooting sequence, but I doubt that we will ever see this footage. Confiscated, I'm sure, just like 9/11 Pentagon videotapes were, which have never been released to the public.

I see that Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, from the Pima County Sheriff's Department, said in a statement that, "I don't have information about whether she (Giffords) was the first person shot," said Dupnik.

Dupnik also said that a second person was seen at the location of the shooting, and was possibly associated with Loughner. The person was described as a Caucasian male with dark hair, approximately 40-50 years old, who was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.

The storied sequence of events in Arizona

This Yahoo News story states that a video of the Arizona shootings taken from a nearby grocery store does exist, and shows Giffords being shot first, from a distance of about two feet, and that Loughner then turned to take a shot at Ron Barber, one of Giffords' aides. According to this story, Judge Roll then pushed Barber towards the ground and beneath a table, and crawled on top of Barber to protect him. During this effort, Roll was shot in the back.

Later in the story it is mentioned that, "The sheriff's office turned the video over to the FBI, which has declined to release it," and that, "Pima County Sheriff's Chief Rick Kastigar said he watched the first part of the surveillance video..."

I can see why the video should not be played out on the TV evening news, but surveillance videos are not usually of very good quality and don't really show things all that graphically, especially when the subjects are at a distance. Besides, people are already desensitized to watching countless violent and bloody acts quite graphically and realistically portrayed in movies. If the public wants to know exactly what happened, then why not release this video? Will it be released after Loughner's trial? Only time will tell, but if the failure to release other videos (such as the confiscated 9/11 Pentagon tapes) under repeated Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests is any indication then we will probably never know exactly what happened. And while this story does point to Giffords as Loughner's primary target, it could also be said that perhaps this was intentional in order to draw attention away from judge Roll being the actual target. I'm not saying that this must be the case - but rather pointing it out as a possibility, even if an apparently remote one. I'm only suggesting that unless the video is released there will be a lot of people who will question whether the "official" story is true or not, and this is how conspiracy theories are born and perpetuated. At no time in our history has there been more public mistrust of government and government agencies, and for very good reason. We must continue to demand transparency and disclosure of information without censorship and without fear of reprisal.

That's very interesting Aaron, I've never seen those pictures.

Albeit minor (to some, maybe) one thing I found very strange was that when Obama was a candidate, during the debates and speaches, I distinctly remember him talking about the necessity to concentrate on pulling out of Iraq, higher measures in Afghanistan - and the alarming part - making advances into Pakistan.

He was not even elected and yet with confidence he spoke on the matter. Even McCain made a troubled face and suggested "How dare he talk about attacking a country, when he was not even elected yet." His response, I remember it correctly, was followed, initially with a little smirk.

And sure enough, covert, unpublicised attacks on Pakistan are being made. You pretty much have to follow the news from Reuters, it doesn't seem to make much news in N.A. (from what I've seen, anyway).

I just find that really troubling, it was almost as if he totally knew exactly what the heck was going to go down.

What sort of back room meetings exist to give a person like Obama that level of pre-presidential confidence and awareness into future military covert operations.

It's scary to think about.

Bush Senior was also working for the CIA (I guess Bush junio was too stupid for anything at all so they didn't hire him).
