  • LidMotor Solar CFL Replication

I replicated LidMotors Solar CFL Light project.
YouTube - LidMotor Solar CFL Light

I used one small CFL bulb as it uses less energy and put out almost as much light as the 13 watt CFL. The small CFL runs at full brightness!

I used a plastic container I got from the dollar store (as it was only $1.)

The light uses 5 AA batteries in series (2650mah) and lasts for over 9 hours on a full charge. This light would be great for anyone that is camping, fishing or out on a boat.

To charge the battery bank I am using a 12 volt solar panel that puts out 12 volts @ 125ma (max) so it should charge in all light conditions but not enough amps (current) to overcharge the battery bank.

I am very pleased with this project and will build 2 more just like it to use up the remainder of the cfl drivers that I got.

What a neat project! (Thanks LidMotor;-)

For those that are interested in this project you can view the YouTube video as I have listed the parts numbers and locations on where to obtain them.

    Fun flourescent light projects

This was a fun project for me during the Christmas season. I made a couple of these for gifts. They are just standard FL driver circuits but, as you found out, the magic is in how you turn them into personal creations. Well done Larry.
Here is the video I made of the project. I'm glad that you liked it enough to replicate and improve on it.
