Hey Donald - Is the schematic for the 2nd photo in FOR_RS_2.pdf and FOR_RS_3.pdf?

Hi All,
Great work folks! I was feeling pretty lonely back in 2022 working on this lol. Aaron reached out to me to share my work so far. Here are some pics. The rotor was built from Aug 2022 to Jan 2023, since then I have been working on the switch. This year I'll be building the stator and case. This rotor is 12" dia. and 12" long. I estimate it weighs 30-40lbs. I have achieved <50ns ton and toff with 650V spikes at 24V. I am continually working on designs to push these specs even higher.
Bro D, I have some suggestions for you (my 2 cents). I would reverse your design. Drive coils become generator coils and generator coils become the drive coils. Then use a circuit like Nick Kraakman's to drive your coils (see below). Pretty sure Paul has said that bifilar or not it makes no difference which is important becuase it damatically reduces component count, circuit complexetiy and parasitics from driving multiple devices. You drive your now gen coils with one GAN or SiC FET. I could be wrong in which case thats good to, I can learn more, but I'm pretty sure thats the way you want to go. Btw, that IXDI614 is stellar, I don't know how I missed that as I like to spend time sifting through components on Digikey.
Here are some links of some other guys doing some good work. I become aware of them in the last year or so.

If anyone has any questions I am more than happy to talk to you guys over the phone etc. I work as an Electronics Technologist in a repair center so I can help out alot with the switching side of things.

Found issues to be corrected with arduino code.
Ed,
I'm not sure which photo (2nd photo) you are referring to.
I usually draw the boards in TARGET 3001! v18 light, rather than start with a schematic.
Faster for me.
I cut the boards on my router and also the frame and rotor parts.
When required, I'll start with someone else' schematic.

Just downloaded Target 3001! from https://ibfriedrich.com/en/index.html. Thanks for letting me know about this. I'll start learning how to use it ASAP.

Hi Ed,
Real researchers never sleep.
FOR RS 2.pdf shows the relays, battery hook up that I'm using and leads to a representative fet cct board.
Note the ULN300A devices. 5v to these from arduino triggers the relay with DCV from aux power.
60A relay part#: EW60-1A3-BL12D04,00000
I have 100's of target files that I drew and cut and used.

Thanks Donald, your 6mag/coil setup turns into the pulse motor and your 16 coils become generator coils. The 6 coils would be some sort of series/parallel arrangement to where you would be left with two drive coil leads to connect to a switch with one GAN or Sic FET.
If you don't mind, I'd like to know a couple things about your setup.
1. Resistance of your 16 motor coils, as in the resistance of one of them, I assume they are all about the same.
2. Resistance of one of your gen coils.
3. What way are the magnets on the gen rotor facing?
4. If the gen coils were energized by DC, what would be the orientation of the magnetic field they produce?Last edited by Joster; 01-07-2024, 05:25 PM.
