  • Are EVs Risking or Saving the Planet ?

Not if they are made from HEMP! Yup, the lotus and BMW are already experimenting, you can make the whole car our of hemp, these may be propaganda but worth a look.

Are EVs Risking or Saving the Planet ?“Electric cars should be rewarded for their energy efficiency, not for moving emissions from exhaust pipes to powerstation chimneys” says the UK's Environmental Transport Association (ETA). In a report titled "How to avoid an electric shock - Electric cars: from hype to reality", the ETA has taken a close look at Electric-powered Vehicles (EVs) and their associated technologies.

In what could be a shock to some commuters and governments, the report states that EVs could potentially speed climate change, rather than reduce it, and might not be as good for the planet as some of the spin suggests.

It shouldn't be surprising but the coal lobbies in the US are pushing legislation for auto companies to build EV's. They are counting on the fact that the cars will not pollute, and leave more carbon credits available. All the while their toxic energy will be the primary source for all energy in the US.
Of course they have clean coal technology...?

I suspect the GE is very behind it as well. They produce everything for the power industry. Nuclear and Coal. As well as components that woulds suit EV production.

      For EVs

I'm for Electric Vehicles. If I could afford to buy one -- I would.
I'm hoping the cost will come down.
An EV, as a machine, is so much simpler than a combustion engine.

We need battery technology to improve, and investment in the EV
area will cause that spin-off to occur.

We need cleaner air in our cities ... and EVs and Hydrogen cars
      will get us there.

The Energy Producers are already under strict regulations ....
which will improve over time -- I hope.
Wind, Solar, Natural Gas, etc. are ways of producing electricity
in a cleaner way ... and these technologies can be done on grand
scales if we have the will.

I think hydrogen cars will be the ultimate solution ... but EVs
will help us bridge to that solution.
As we start to figure out how to make hydrogen cost effectively --
perhaps with little algae critters -- this will be ideal.

The other very nice thing about an EV and/or Hydrogen solution
is that as new ways are discovered to create electricity
and hydrogen, upgrading your vehicle to those new ways
      will be easy-as-pie.

We need the costs to come down with EVs and Hydrogen vehicles --
which will occur as more people buy them.
