Peg motor, got questions
Hello Armagdn03,
I've been through both electric motor secret movies, and the Electric motor secrets thread, and this stuff really has my mind racing. I'm trying to hold back on some machine shop work until I get a solid idea, which brings me to my question for you, as I would like to try out this peg motor you put up.
If I'm correct, the inner toroid and inner pegs are connected, i.e. one piece?
Also with the outer pegs and outer toroid, from what you say I am imagining the stator with the coil as one piece with the outer peg and outer toroid, no air gaps?
The only separation being between the inner carousel and outer carousel.
I ask this because in one drawing it appears the pegs are floating, and in the other drawing it looks as though they are part of the toroid.
Also, I was thinking to have these machined of metal instead of a ferrite for more strength. And having a piece of aluminum machined to fit the air space within the toroids and pegs. Maybe have the pegs and toroid made as several pieces so that it can be assembled around a aluminum body, machined to fit.
Do you see any disadvantage of using aluminum there?
I appreciate the input,
Marcel
