    Just tried this - first i put my 4 turns of insulated floppy wire at the bottom, rather than stretched all over the secondary, and it seemed to work just as well, with no difference from the original. So then i got a thick uninsulated copper wire coil of 6 turns and put that at the bottom (again with my lights at the top), and i got really poor results.......so, i lifted it up all the way to the top, and it worked much better (but still not as well as my thinner uninsulated wire.)

    ...I have no idea why. I'll keep trying different coils and see what happens i suppose.

    Thanks Slayer. I should have put two and two together. I buy parts for my crystal radios from him. I put together a larger coil combined with a pancake coil last night. I'll post it later today. Thanks for the welcome.

    The capacitor I'm using I bought off ebay.But here is a link to one site that has them also.

    Scotts Electronics For Sale 266pf Variable Capacitor Dual Section Poly Plastic

    It's two caps in one, I have them together for 0-532 pf.

    Thanks for the welcome back. This is very fascinating and I'm looking forward to experimenting more with it. I'm also picking up where I left of with the SEC Exciter. I'm so far behind but that makes it fun. One question I had does anyone have a source for the 5-512pF variable capacitor? I've looked around and cant seem to find them.

    Welcome Back Jiffycoil!

    Funny to see all those lights stuffed in that oscillator...

    Ya the Slayer exciter seems a little stronger then the Stiffler exciter, and a little more robust... but I am sure there are differences, however for the tinkerer, the Slayer exciter is a little easier to use and not as sensitive.

    The addition of tuning capacitor and operational LED / protection diode are useful to have, as well as doubling or triple your transistor for greater field, or use the current limiting transistors.

    One question, though. Non ionizing radiation from cell phones is about to be claimed cancerous. Is this similar to, or different then that? I know if I hold a cell phone to my ear for an hour my brains begin to bake, I feel it. But I can play with wireless and not feel that. However I dont sleep ontop of my coils...

    One idea is to incorporate the rife frequencies to this technology. Do you think there would be a way to set specific frequencies that this transmits at, lets say 10,000 hz? or is that too low... Instead of worrying about cancer, maybe these things can be wireless-transmission-of-relaxation-and-health machines.... and we are just now working on the heart of it !!

    My build of the simple Exciter

    Ive been away from this forum for some time. I came back and find this. Well thinking about it kept me up at night so I contacted Slayer and he pointed me to the schematic and I built the simple Exciter. Running on 5 volts Oh my! I'm so excited to move forward.

    It will work off eather the positive or negative side of the source battery.
    I just like to use it off the negative side or the transistors emitter.

    It sounds like your L3 coil is to small.It should be as big or bigger than the L1 coil.
    Also you could try reversing the coil around,It might just be backwards.
    And the open end should just be floating free.

    Simple as that eh? Im gonna start looking at some of the maths behind this oscillator - luckily i have a twin brother who is a maths teacher and also likes experimenting. I figure we need to team up to understand how best to use this beast.

    You can also use a magnetron( used in microwave oven) in series with the L1 output as Slayer said and see the increase in output... Use the pos rail for series connection.......Ive removed the two ring magnets and cooler fins

    Nice video Seth.

    You may also want to try a L3 coil off the emitter.
    It seems to take the field from around the source battery and redirect it back to the L1 coil.
    It will also help with tunning by moving it away or closer to the L1 coil.

    Also a variable capacitors across the L2 coil helps a lot when using low voltage.

    It looks like your having great results.

    you dont have a digital multimeter? it should have option to measure resistance in ohms value!

    the diode, from emiter to base! on npn config!!
