AllCanadian, Yes that's what I'm hoping everyone understands. I have a light meter I use when I need to make comparisons - fairly cheap ones can be had off eBay. If you double the Lumen output of an LED the human eye may just barely notice the difference and if the difference isn't a side by side comparison with another LED you may not even be able to say which one was brighter by memory (even if it was only a minute ago). I don't mean to drag this thread off topic but just wanted to say that judging the effectiveness of a JT by the brightness of a 5mm LED or any light can be very subjective. So I would suggest in designing a toroid for any production run that some attention be put towards finding the best output from the JT by some means other than just looking at what appears brightest.
