  • The wire from the caps is 14AWG stanless (teflon, PVC, Nylon? Braid and a clear Lacker)
Got the wire from a scraped 400Hz configured mil. spec. genny.
I need a refresher on the diode configuration. Does anyone have a known, good
circuit. That would be a big help.

    • Well, I finished my coil... Time to put it on the bench.
I hope this turns out like I believe it will????

Below are pics of a core idea I had (2x 100m rolls of 1.5mm), and a finished
Rodin wrap of 20 x1mm Mag. wire.

      • Damn stubbs you wind FAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just be CAREFUL with this stuff ok!!!!

remember, one hand in the pocket at al times......i know..its SO easy to be doing & watching...and then....you see somehting that catches your interest.....and you reach out with both hands......and.........ZAP !

be CAREFUL....super glue that hand to your leg if you have to

        • The Coil is a success... The 20W 220V CFL fires at 9VDC @1A... WOW
I then put a 18W 220V Hologen and 25W 220V Candle stick bulb on it.
          20VDC @1.3A Brilliant...

I am excited... I wish my order was already here. Probably will not arrive
          till Tuesday

I am sooo tierd of this bulb thing. I wish there was a better way

          • Stubbs...

            Great stufff !

is this all using the circuit in the pdf you posted? ( the corrected pdf i mean )

            p.s....what have you ordered exactly?

            Comment

            • Yes, that is the circuit. I removed the pick-up coil, and attached my FG.
I ordered some HV Caps and Diodes.

              • Stubbs, i finally got my 494 PWM circuit back up and running again :-)

what frequency and duty cycle are you using?

                Comment

                • Now thats a good thing to have about :-)
                  Freq. is ~10kHz at ~30%

I blew my 20W CFL @9VDC <1A.... It looked stable, and was brilliantly lit
Bummer... Guess I need a larger bulb.

I am about to tear into a 1100W Microwave to see what all I can salvage /use.

                  • stubbs......inside the micro youll find all sorts of goodies....

a shaded pole motor with a nice coil & core

                    a 2000 V cap ( thereabouts )

                    some heavy duty diodes

                    a 240V 20W filament bulb ( UK here )

and of course...... the transformer itself

                    • I guess you been in one before, because that is exactly what I have found
But only one diode... A friend told he had a couple of these ovens on the heap.
So I will be dismantling a couple more in the A.M.

I put a 60W 220V Bulb in place of the CFL. I got it to light good with 30V @1.5A.
45W is good, but I noticed that, at 819Hz the Amperage droped to 1.3.
I brought the votage down to 20V, the Amperage settled to ~1.7A.
(all voltage and amperage chages, increased the sustained voltage on the caps; up to 150V)

This setup has a few sweet spots in it, but sure is a hassle finding them.
200Hz, 800-1kHz, 10kHz and around 20kHz. Everything in between these freqs
                      seems pretty useless.

                      • Hi all

not to complicate matters or to distract from the current direction that things are going in ( stubbs work )... but.. heres my revelation today.,..

( follow me through there )....

the rodin coil, based upon the Math, is not a perfect represenation of the math by any means......but its something.

we know, that the area in the centre of the coil, is some kind of spinning vortex of magnetic flux....whatever "it" is... its spinning

ok...switch to an analogy now, imagine that "spinning"(whatever it is )....as a gear...a cog.

so we have a cog, rotating around a vertical axis. If we wanted to use that cog....to drivve another cog to turn an axle say,. what would we do?

we would design the second(pickup) cog...so that it is exactly the same design as the drive cog.....HOWEVER... the 2nd cog is different in a couple of ways.......it is the INVERSE of the drive cog.

Inverse why? Because firstly, it spins in the opposite direction, also, where there is a tooth on the 2nd cog we must have a space on the drive cog....and vice versa, so that they mesh together perfectly, also both cogs would have idenricaly shaped & sized teeth & spaces........both cogs would look identical, but the 2nd cog would be the inverse of the drive(rodin) cog.

translating all of the above to the coil... if the drive "cog" is the rodin coil.....then the 2nd (pickup) cog......must also be a rodin coil..but "INVERTED"

what happens if you take a rodin coil....and invert it?????????? see below

YouTube - 3D Hopf Torus to Flower - textured with Marko Rodin num 9

the inverse of the rodin toroid.is a sphere...with the windings still wrapped around it.

would THIS....make the ideal pickup coil?

                        Comment

                        • I see your point...
Sounds like something to look into....

There was no Micowave on the heap to be found. But did pick-up a few
                          ignition coils.

I eventually wish to hook up my hho genny to this circuit.
This circuit seems to love capacitance Fuel Cell or HV Cap???
                          or both???

                          Comment

                          • I recieved my parts today. While building the nerve to even try this HV thing...
                            I hooked my fuel cell in series with a 40W Light. I also have a 1" neo-mag.
                            Rolling in baby oil, centered in the rodin. 30VDC @1A activated my fuel cell;
as well, lit the 40W bulb. The fuel cell is a meyer's replica. and contains pure
medically Ionized /distilled water (0 electrolites). The action was astonishing.

I must be in the right frame of mind to do the test I am about to perform.
20Kv Pulsed through the appex. I have new tungston anode and a
carbon katode, as well diodes caps and transformer.

This is all kind of spooky; after the little I have learned of this negitive nature.
But, HV does create a large vacuume. magnetically quenched through the the apex.
of this black hole; makes sense. curious
