  • "a conduit between the two" or more....
I think this is about to become very interesting.....
Star or Delta config.??? But would need a 3 phase FWB???
The one coil's old primary is also a 25 awg coil wound for 220-240VAC.
So that is two... Need one more...

    • ok stubbs, thanks a lot for the diagram, making sense to me now :-)

now, i actually need a toroid transformer so i can rip off the secondary, leave the primary on.and wide a rodin on top like yours.... any idea what devices at the scrap-heap would have such a toroid inside them? or is purchasing one the only way to get one?

      • I have an older 3kW high efficiency power inverter that has one in it.
Sending to you would be a pain and would probably be cheaper to buy one.
        This thing is heavy. ~60kilo
You can probably find it cheaper, but it is the same one I have.

Any larger Medical Equipment i.e. centerfuge, dialasys, power supplies, etc...
A lot of these high speed lighting systems have such devices in them as well.
Almost forgot to mention that Welders have the one we wish to have.....

        • Yikes 60 kilos !

ill have a ponder today about possibly casting a large ( 150mm dia or so ) toroid core out of magnetite & crushed ferrite mixed with fibreglass resin, could use a couple of rolls of tape as the formers, press some putty around them to make the mold.then pour in the goop, wrap a primary around it, tape it up and wrap a rodin around that.

          • Here is another idea.... Get some Iron Rebar small in diameter, form it to
a comfortable size. Insulate it properly, using ESD bags cut into strips
and tape it up. This will give you ~5kV insulation to the core. As I did
in my first Rodin video. Put about 1500-2000 wraps "traditional trans. wrap"
completely around your home made core. When your done, make sure to
insulate again; as above. Then put your Rodin wrap around it.

I believe this to be the cheapest way to create this beast.....

            • stubbs, sounds like a much better idea there....but what is rebar?

                • ahhhh THAT stuff, i know exactly what you mean now, my 2 nephews are in the construction game, ill ask them if they can pinch some from somewhere

i think for now, i will try and duplicate as much of your setup as i can using what i have.

right now im using circuit-maker 6 to produce a nice clean looking schematic from your sketch stubbs. be finished in a few, then you can check it over to make sure its correct.

                  • ok stubbs, not complete yet, but here is what i have so far...

feel free to draw & connect the cap bank & trans-primary + 0.5mm coil...plus the FWBR..and the bottom mosfet...

                    • YES!!!! That is the beast.

Check the attached out and tell me what you think.

                      • ok stubbs, looks ok to me ( in my very humble knowledge when it comes to KW & MW of power for a house etc )..... but.....first....

need to connect up the cap bank...& FWBR....bottom rodin coil....then we will have a nice clear schematic that both myself and gem & others can immediately look at and replicate should they choose to.

im going to go through your two vids again....see if i have missed anything

how this looking so far, i think im right, but will need you to check...

i might not have this perfectly correct, need to check wether i have the 0.5mm coil in the right place

                          • The ground on the for the FET on high potential pulse circuit can be pulsed
to ground. This is the part of the circuit that I am playing with. This is were
(I Believe) the very balls of this circuit are. I hope the attached makes sense.
I am not very good with mspaint...

                            • Mabey someone can help me out a bit. I need to setup a safety for this
                              circuit. Example:

If the load malfunctions, the caps will rise in voltage. (I am not worried about over loading them, as this will not happen in this circuit.)
At a preset voltage (Variable) the circuit should shut down when this setting is reached. But not only shut down the circuit but also
unload the caps and shutdown /disconect the power supply.

                              Open for suggestions....
