Recently I was talking to a cousin of mine who is a commercial electrician and he was relating a story about a friend of his who he calls the junkyard dog. This guy built what appears to be a variation of a rotoverter using a 60kw generator head being pushed by a 10hp 3 phase motor with a jeep 4 wheel drive transfer-case between them to change rpm from the 10hp motor. The unit is said to power his entire home and shop and produces enough electricity from the 60kw side to run the 10hp motor also. I am trying to set up an appointment with my cousin and this man to see the unit to get pics and videos of it running. He injured his foot and is recovering so have yet to get that opportunity to do so. According to my cousin he has seen it work and has examined the unit and says it doing as claimed. He told me what year and type jeep transfer-case was used, will send him an email and and ask again. Seems he said the 10hp motor ran at the higher 3600rpm will try and confirm that also.

question
hy,
also my ask him, how he is taken the power from generator - via diode plug or downstep transf. or else.
I personaly think, that is most important question because, there is no magic to "virtuali" producing more power on output, magic is, how to making this pover usable with COP>1.
thanks, Tadej

I am still working on getting down to southern Oregon to see this unit, but unfortunately the inventor injured his foot and was in recovery last I heard.
Being that this trip entails some 400 + miles I want to make sure the inventor is ready to show it. Also, I do not want to make the trip in winter so was thinking this spring sometime would be better. This way if the unit is outside which I presume it is I will be able to capture some better video clips of it working and still shots also. I am in no big hurry right now anyway, will let my cousin Tye make the arrangements as its his friend who has built the unit, and am sure he will have to be involved as they are looking to start manufacturing these units for resale.
Thanx for your response, as soon as I know more details will surely keep everyone updated.
I like stuff like this that can use readily available and maybe even used components to build with, after all why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to. I like taking the path of least resistance if at all possible.
