Reading this thread I remembered seeing disc type devices that extended the life of light bulbs back in the 1960's! I found the related patents, very interesting and simple. The lumen output of the bulb is lowered and I imagine the color temperature is changed as well.

Hi folks, Hi 1NRG24Seven, thanks for the added info. I will be making a test myself, i have a bunch of FWBR i got at a surplus shop that are 600 volts @ 15 amps and some 1 uf microwave caps. What kind of caps were or are you using.

Thanx Retrod for that post, I was hoping someone would bring those buttons up. Before I created this circuit I bought a few of them and they made the bulbs last between 10-20 times longer..But they were expensive and only worked on one bulb one time. The heat of the base of the bulb would cause them to almost be welded to the bottom of the bulb and trying to remove them they were brittle. I always wondered what they were made of and figured maybe it was a full wave bridge...but without a cap. But like i said I didn't know, was just my best guess after I made this circuit. But this circuit will outlast many bulbs.
