Thanks. I don't know all of the details of his engine. Maybe he used two solenoids, one to open and one to close. I saw the engine working, but not the internal workings of the head, which had a valve cover over them. I do know he had to reroute some of the oil passages to prevent the oil from getting on the solenoids, but still oil the valves themselves. I wish his garage had not burned, so he could have done a long term evaluation of the system.
It just goes to show that there are many improvements to be made in the common ICE. I just don't have the time to build and test all of them. Good Luck. Stealth

I am sure you could position a strong magnet to open or close the valves, and a solenoid to do the opposite.I don't actually know what he did. I have not had any contact with him in about 3 years. The next time I run into him, I will try and remember to ask him. I do know that he removed the cam, lifters, rocker arms, timing chain, gears and valve springs. It sure reduced friction and noise. It was much easier to turn, and seemed to produce more horsepower. But, the real improvement was RPM. It was a 4 cylinder engine that he was experimenting with. That's about all I know about it. Good Luck. Stealth
